Anker, testing the nylon USB-C cable and microUSB-USB Type C adapters

Home Reviews ,,,,,In the past few days we have accompanied our new devices with USB-C to two Anker accessories, specifically a constructively better USB-C cable than those supplied with smartphones and tablets and a couple of adapters that allow you to transform any microUSB cable in a USB-C cable useful for both charging and data synchronization.

The cable

The cable is 90 centimeters long and, as we said, it is excellent from a construction point of view. First of all, the outer coating is much thicker than the classic cables with a rubber sheath: it is a double layer of woven nylon fabric, which is more difficult to fold and knot. Certainly it slightly increases the final weight of the cable and if we also want the overall dimensions since the sheath is significantly thicker than a classic rubber cable, but it is also more resistant to wear over time.

But it is not only excellent externally: Anker in fact tells us that the internal filaments are made of Aramid fiber, which makes it five times more resistant than a common cable. The connectors are also very well built, with a polycarbonate shell and laser-welded internal chassis.

If all this should already be enough to reassure us with a view to use on the move, to accompany the cable we also find in the package a fabric case with magnetic closure, which allows you to put it in a trouser pocket or inside a backpack without fear that can get caught on something or wear out with the continuous rubbing of other objects contained within the same pocket.

The cable works well both in charging connected devices and in data transfer: the USB-A plug on the opposite side is a 3.0 type so it supports the latest data transfer rates for this socket.

Adapters

The USB-C adapters are constructed of good quality glossy plastic, very light and not too big, thus taking up very little space. The microUSB socket to which the various cables available to the user are hooked is very solid and is built to securely lock the connected cable. This is confirmed by a “clack” at the end of the stroke which permanently stops the cable preventing it from accidentally slipping out during use.

They are an excellent ally for those who want to carry a single cable with them to recharge multiple devices: for example, you can put any microUSB cable in your pocket to recharge, for example, powerbank, headphones and a second mobile phone and if necessary use the adapter to restore the energy of a latest generation smartphone.

The only thing to keep in mind is the use in case of data transfer: the microUSB socket of the adapter is USB 2.0, so even using a microUSB 3.0 cable the data transfer speed will be only 2.0 (up to 480 Mbps). No problem or slowdown instead for recharging the batteries.

Retail price

All this quality has a relatively low price: both for sale on Amazon, the USB-C cable with nylon sheath costs 10.99 euros while the USB-C adapter is sold in a pack of 2 adapters for the price of 6.49. EUR.
