How it is made
This scale has a square shaped plate, with rounded corners, rather large (30 x 30 centimeters). It is among the thinnest we have tried in recent years (only half a centimeter) and the upper surface is covered with a sheet of sturdy glass which, if it is true that it will easily take footprints, fits well in rooms with a modern design. and minimal.
It is blue, a deep blue that seems almost black, showing its true hue if you look at it from particular angles with the play of light. In the center there is a slightly protruding circular piece that helps to distinguish the two halves where the feet will be placed for measurements.
The feet are made of rubber and ensure excellent adherence to the floor, while the bottom is made of satin plastic and in the center there is a drawer for the four AAA batteries that power the scale. The display is very large, with a black background and white numbers that can be easily read even during the day with direct sunlight (we successfully completed a quick test directly on the balcony).
How it works and what it does
The operation of the scale is among the fastest and most intuitive we have had the opportunity to try to date. Insert the batteries, simply step on the scale and wait a few seconds, useful for the system to obtain a weight measurement. Another handful of seconds are needed by the scale to perform another measurement by passing a slight current in the body, imperceptible to the user but necessary to measure other parameters such as the percentage of lean mass and fat mass, of water in the body, bone and muscle mass, as well as calculating BMI and BMR.
The app
These data are not shown on the scale display but in the app on the smartphone or tablet. It is necessary to install the free EufyLife app, available for iPhone, iPad and Android, and enable Bluetooth.
At the first use you will have to create an account and follow the pairing process of the device, which takes place in a few seconds and is guided by the menu, also available in Italian. At the end all subsequent measurements will be stored in the app and, if you allow access, also in the Apple Health app.
The user interface of the application is really minimal and intuitive, and puts all the information collected by the scale at hand within an easy-to-consult panel, complete with a history of all the measurements made. The scale is able to keep the measurements of 20 people at the same time, so it can also work within extended families: each user will be recognized by the scale and will be able to keep a history of the various weighs, with all the information stored in their own device.
How is it going
During our tests, the scale never missed a beat, which has happened to us in the past with similar accessories and which we never completed the review. It is immediate and really easy to use. The smartphone is not mandatory if you only want to measure your body weight, while pairing becomes necessary if you want to read all the other information acquired during the second phase of the measurement, which takes about 5 seconds overall.
Conclusions
We would like to say that, to date, it is the best Smart scale that we have had the opportunity to try in the editorial office. If in the materials there were other equally valid products, here the software and the immediacy of use make the difference, also thanks to the compatibility with the Apple Health app which fully integrates the tool with Apple devices.
