Mpow Bluetooth headset review, the flea in the ear

Home Reviews ,,,,, Mpow's mini Bluetooth headset is the latest addition to the editorial office that we have been able to try recently. It is among the smallest that there are in circulation and although it is not the best of its kind it is certainly a valid alternative especially if the main goal is to save on the purchase price.

How is it done

As we said it is very small: it weighs a few grams (our kitchen scale does not even “see” it) and the case is made of hard plastic. It has a single button, useful for switching on, off and managing phone calls. Next to it a small blue LED acts as an indicator for the initial pairing with the smartphone. The shape is also quite ergonomic: wearing it, it fits perfectly in the ear and protrudes very little.

Accessories

In the package there is a practical leather-like case with zipper for easy transport, as well as interchangeable rubber pads of various sizes to be able to use it better with large or smaller ears and two USB chargers. There are no cables to recharge the internal battery: the latter takes place simply by placing the headset on its charger, which hooks up magnetically. At that point, simply plug it into a USB socket (be it a charger, a computer port or a power bank) to start charging the headset.

How are you doing

We did some tests to evaluate the audio quality. Our interlocutor reported that he heard our voice very well, albeit with a slight rumble. This disappeared the moment we moved outdoors, out of the office, where external noises did become part of the conversation, but to a small extent, and still returning a “loud and clear” voice.

Compared to other earphones we have tried in the past it is a bit limited in terms of use. The key only allows you to turn the headset on or off with a long press, answer or hang up a call with a single click, reject it with a long click and redial the last number with a double click. On the other hand, there is no way to call up the voice assistant, nor to manage any music playback: you can only start the music and pause it with a single click.

As for autonomy, with a full charge we were able to listen to more or less 3 hours of music with a 30-minute phone call in between before it went completely off. It takes two hours to recharge. For Standby it can safely remain connected to the smartphone even 3–4 consecutive days (including night).

Conclusions

The audio quality is good as well as the stability in the ear, found the right rubber pad, it is sufficient to allow it to be held firmly in the ear even on the move, such as during a walk or a movement in the car. There is an appreciable presence of two chargers, one to leave perhaps in the car and the other to always keep in your pocket inside its case.

Retail price

Mpow's mini-headset is on sale on Amazon for € 15.99.
