For the writer it was the first pair of true wireless earphones: therefore, having never put a pair of AirPods in our ears, certainly the most interesting for our audience, we are unable to make a comparison in audio quality, especially in function. of the selling price of Puro's earphones, offered practically at less than half of Apple's headphones.
Nevertheless, it is precisely for the considerable savings – in relation to the audio quality and materials – that these earphones have been pleased, since it is a new product category that in all likelihood will gradually take over the wired Bluetooth earphones currently in trade.
What does “True Wireless” mean
The main advantage of earphones of this type lies in the total absence of wires. For this reason they are labeled “true wireless”, that is “true wireless”, precisely because there is not even a cable to keep them connected to each other, as happens instead for what we commonly call “wireless earphones” today as they connect yes via Bluetooth to devices, but in fact a wired connection is still there.
How they are made
Here, however, after having removed them from the box, we have only two small earphones that are distinct and separate from each other. The right and left ones can be recognized, in addition to their physical conformation, by the letter L (left, left) and R (right, right) printed on the inside, the one that comes into contact with the ear and where we also find two small contact holes for battery charging.

The earphones are practically identical to each other: both have a single, large button that almost completely covers the outer surface. This key is slightly convex and houses a small LED indicator useful for knowing the charging status of the earphones and visually following the phase of the first pairing.
The outer part is in shiny metallic gray plastic, while the inner one is covered by a thin rubber coating of a lighter shade of gray that guarantees an excellent adherence of the earpiece to the ear: there is no internal flap or headband. external, here the only way to ensure stability to each earphone lies in this rubber combined with the right in-ear rubber, available in three different sizes to better adapt it to any shape of the ear cavity.
The recharge
In the box there is also a small case that allows you to store them after use. In this way, the risk of losing them is significantly reduced, but at the same time it is also possible to recharge them: just like that of the AirPods, it incorporates a battery (220 mAh) capable of completely restoring the energy of both earphones (45 mAh each). twice. Considering that the autonomy declared by the manufacturer is about two hours (and the complete recharge takes place in about an hour), this case promises up to six hours of autonomy over a whole day away from home.

It is therefore possible to recharge the earphones on the go, and in that case the LED of each earphone will turn white and turn off at the end of the charging, or once back home it is possible to recharge the earphones and the case at the same time, by connecting this' last to the USB socket of the computer or to any power supply with 1A output (such as the original iPhone charger). In this case, the LED of the earphones will light up red and turn blue when fully charged.
Bluetooth pairing
The pairing with the smartphone is slightly different from what we are used to today with Bluetooth speakers and headphones. To connect the earphones to a smartphone (to listen to music or manage phone calls) and synchronize them with each other, it is in fact necessary to follow the procedure described in the instructions that we summarize here in brief:
Pairing is now complete. The procedure can also be repeated for another smartphone, taking care to first deactivate Bluetooth from the first paired phone. In fact, these earphones support the Multipoint function and are able to manage phone calls from two smartphones at the same time.

Functions and technical details
Music Playback – Single click of the right or left earphone button starts and pauses music playback, double click allows you to skip to the next song while with the triple click you go back to the previous song.
Phone calls – The single click allows you to answer an incoming phone call or end the call in progress, while keeping the key pressed for more than a second refuses the call. incoming call.
Voice commands – The right earphone (R) supports interaction with the voice assistant, in the case of iPhone with Siri. It is sufficient to keep the button pressed until the beep of the acoustic signal (about one second), which basically corresponds to the prolonged click of the Home button. Siri will then be called up, which we will hear only on the right earphone.
Audio quality
These earphones have a sound that in musical jargon could be defined as “flat” as all frequencies are more or less at the same level. There are no full-bodied basses or blaring highs: if we wanted to make a comparison with Apple's (wired) EarPods, the latter offer slightly less present bass but clearer and more ringing mid-high frequencies. In the case of Puro Secret the general audio appears slightly “closed”, although they offer a higher volume at maximum level and bass which, in tracks like in James Blake's The Wilhelm Scream, are still perceived very well.
Conclusions
Puro's true wireless earphones were a pleasant surprise as they allowed us to appreciate the advantage of the total absence of wires in listening to music at home and on the move: you totally forget you have them not only because they are very light, but really because there is not even a small cable to add bulk (and weight, albeit minimal) to the headphones.
They are not earphones for audiophiles but can instead make the difference for those who want to listen to some music while walking through isolated streets (as there are in-ear rubber pads the soundproofing is high, so you have to pay attention in the street) or for those who want to train in gym: from this point of view we have tried better headphones especially if you are looking for more present bass, but this is a feature that in this case can really be put aside, as the advantage of not having dangling cables makes the difference especially during one ride.
