Home iPhonia iPhone Accessories ,,,,, We have talked about Bluetooth tags several times over the years, in some cases being able to try them in order to evaluate their functioning – and usefulness – in everyday life. For some, such as Chipolo, we also had the opportunity to deepen the tests after a few years by touching the new Plus version. These products all perform the same identical function: to differentiate them is the software that manages them, one of the few reasons that together with shape and design push the user to buy one rather than another.
MYNT, which we have had in the editorial office in recent weeks, gives a shock to this product category by providing not only a superior build quality, but offering additional functions to those of the simple Bluetooth finder, including the ability to manage music remotely. , take a selfie and help us find the lost iPhone in the house. But the company went even further by doubling the autonomy of the tag. And the price? Equal to that of the competition (if not even a few euros less).
As did
It is much thinner than many others, even if slightly longer: it does not look like a simple circular tag but the design is rather reminiscent of one of those tags used by the military for identification and returned to the fore in the past years as a jewel for teenagers.
Measurements: 5.5 x 2.5 x 0.35 cm Weight: 13 grams
The body, as mentioned, is very robust: although it includes a good part of the plastic chassis, the two flat sides are covered with a brushed aluminum sheet that strengthens the structure and makes it even more beautiful to look at. One of the two is completely smooth and has company name and data printed on it, the other incorporates a small button covered with a soft rubber section.
What's in the box
The packaging is reduced to the essentials. It is a very small transparent plastic box that showcases the Bluetooth tag right from the unpacking, which consists in removing the cardboard film that covers most of the packaging. Inside is the user manual, a replacement CR2020 battery and a lanyard to attach the tag to a key ring.
How to replace the battery
When the battery runs out, simply unlock the locking system of the battery compartment (with the help of a fingernail or the tip of a toothpick) and lift the tab that you will see protruding: in this way it will be possible to eject the button battery to replace it with the one already included in the package and thus obtaining another 12 months of autonomy.
First configuration
MYNT can be paired with any iPhone or Android smartphone by downloading the relevant application (free) from the Store. It can also work in conjunction with a Mac.

To set it up, simply turn on Bluetooth on the device to be paired, start the app and follow the on-screen instructions. The process will not take more than a few minutes, after which the tag will be immediately operational.
The app on smartphone
Due to its multiple functions, in a single application it is possible to associate even more than one tag (up to a maximum of 8), giving each of them an icon, a name and customizing the various functions.
The application is very clear both from the graphic point of view and from that of the distribution and tracing of the various functions available, although it is entirely localized in English. The main screen collects the list of associated tags , which can also be tracked by location by locating them on the map.
From the Settings it is possible to add a “safe zone” ”Within which the tracker will not have to disturb us. The system is based on WiFi networks, so if we indicate the home and office networks, we will be sure not to be disturbed by notifications when we are inside these areas (as long as the phone is connected to WiFi). This screen also offers quick access to the purchase panel for new trackers or replacement batteries, for the moment only for Amazon.com.
The tab of each tracker is basically divided into two parts: an upper half, where there are the customization options of the digital label, including icon, name and little else. There is also a button (RING) to make the tracker ring if we can't find it: so if we attach it to the house keys, we have to go out and we don't remember where we put them, with a click we will make it emit a series of signals acoustics (weak if you are in another room) to help us locate their position by ear.
In the lower half of the screen there are the options for adjusting the functions related to the tracker and those dedicated to the remote control functions.
As for the options of the tag , it is It is possible to set after how much time – from disconnection with the smartphone – the audible alarm should go off (between 3, 6 or 30 seconds) on the phone and if and when to trigger the alarm from the tracker (3, 6 or 30 seconds) and sensitivity.
The section dedicated to the remote control allows you to choose between four ready-made presets and a fifth completely customizable according to your needs.
L 'app on Mac
Associating MYNT to the Mac is fundamentally useful for two reasons related to the remote control functions, namely that of managing music playback and that dedicated to managing presentations in Keynote and PowerPoint.
Why it is useful
As it is primarily a tracker, it can be attached to a bunch of keys , a bag, one suitcase , to the reflex or any other item we would never want to lose. When the tag is removed from the smartphone (because it slipped out of our pocket, because we forgot it on the bar table or because it is slipping away from under our noses) and it exceeds 10 meters of connection guaranteed by Bluetooth, we will be able to ring smartphones and tags (or both), which will notify us immediately of any theft / loss.
We can also attach it to the collar of the dog or put in a pocket of the wheelchair or in the backpack of the own child and be notified just as promptly if should get away from us more than they should.
But precisely because of its geotracking functions (when the Bluetooth connection between smartphone and tag is lost) it can also simply be left in the dashboard to memorize its position when we park the car . So, if we forget where we put it, just open the app and that's it: the position has already been stored on the map (provided that in the meantime we haven't stolen it …).
Due to its slim and elongated shape it can also be easily hidden inside the pocket of a wallet , another one of the items we never really want to lose.
Conclusions
If you are looking for a Bluetooth tracker there is no single reason not to buy MYNT. In fact, there are several advantages that make it better when compared with competing products, starting with the most resistant materials and the most elegant design. It is much thinner and therefore hides better in the wallet, the autonomy is double because there is already a replacement battery in the package and changing it is much easier than others where it is necessary to disassemble the whole device.
It also wins the comparison in terms of performance and functionality. The combined application is highly customizable, is practical and responsive and offers a really efficient notification system. Even if we turn off the Bluetooth – perhaps by mistake – the same app will warn us that by doing so it will not be possible to monitor the movements of the tracker. The integrated button and the functions associated with it, from the “Find iPhone” to the remote control for music, photos and presentations, is an added value of an already solid and reliable system.
