Hisense C30 Rock, a rock in multimedia audio playback

Home Hi-Tech Android World ,,,,, Hisense C30 Rock is a phone that belongs to the economic range of Chinese society but which does not give up some very special features, which could guide the choice of consumers. At least on paper. This is the premise from which we started for the review of this device.

The terminal has a fairly square shape, even if the four edges are slightly curved, however, covered with rubber to make the terminal more resistant, which also enjoys IP68 certification, therefore resistant to water and dust. This is one of the main features of the terminal, which looks like a rugged phone, without sacrificing aesthetics and minimalism. On the back a plastic shell with carbon effect, while on the sides of the bronze-colored stripes. They don't look bad at all, but it is a subjective characteristic: some may not like it. The configuration of the side keys is particular: on the lower part a very convenient key dedicated to the room (unfortunately with a single stroke), a little higher, but always on the lower part, the volume rocker, while higher up a rather long power button. There is, unfortunately, no fingerprint sensor. We miss it.

On the front, in addition to the classic sensors placed on the top, and the front chamber, there are also two symmetrical openings for the audio, which allow the terminal to shine in this field, but only in the reproduction of multimedia contents. To close the aesthetic kit an almost invisible slot on the left side of the terminal, which can contain two SIMs or a SIM + MicroSD, while on the back there is the classic rear camera.

Technical features

As for the technical characteristics, Hisense C30 Rock offers a Snapdragon 430 processor, octa core at 1.4 GHz, flanked by an Adreno 505 GPU. Also thanks to the 3 GB of RAM supplied, the terminal is fluid in everyday use and can be used well in any department. From web browsing to the mail department, to the use of the usual messaging apps, everything appears to be normal, without particular obstacles and without any lag. Good autonomy of the terminal, which does not work miracles, but which leads quietly to the evening with intense use, still leaving a few notches of energy for emergencies. Good optimization of the battery with the terminal in standby: we did not encounter any battery draining problems.

Good screen, a 5.2-inch Full HD unit, with a pixel density of 424 ppi, and a screen / front ratio of about 65%; the frames, therefore, not only particularly optimized, but being an almost rugged phone it is right that it should be so, also to give strength to the terminal. speaking of solidity, the front glass is Gorilla Glass 4, therefore particularly resistant.

Sound

Beyond the technical characteristics, in line with the selling price, Hisense C30 Rock focuses on some factors. The first is that of certification against water and dust: it is a resistant phone (hence the same name), but which does not weigh down the aesthetics too much and does not give up even a minimum of elegance. The aspect that, however, we liked the most, and that it is necessary to underline is the audio one.

Nowadays, where mid-range smartphones seem to be equivalent in many respects, it is the details that make the difference: Hisense 30 Rock, has an edge on the audio side. We are not referring to the one in capsule during calls, nor to the one on speakerphone: in these contexts the audio is average. Where it excels, however, is the multimedia sound: the two speakers offer superior quality audio, compared to the average of the various smartphones in the price range. It's like having a small speaker in your pocket, ready to liven up parties with friends, even by the pool considering that the smartphone is IP 68 certified. The music is clear, limpid, loud in volume, but well controlled, without excess and without any distortion. This, in short, is one of the reasons why we could recommend this terminal.

Camera

Coming to the photographic department we return to normal, and to the average. The photos taken with the rear camera are pleasant and appreciable in any light condition. The 16 MP sensor captures colors well, which are faithfully reproduced in photos. The detail is certainly not comparable to that of other top of the range, but overall there is still to be satisfied. Even the photos taken completely in the dark are appreciable, with a fairly measured flash, which never dazzles the subject in the foreground, but still sufficient to illuminate the scene and show subjects even quite far away. Here are some examples taken directly with the terminal.

Conclusions

Hisense C30 Rock is the smartphone for those who mainly need two elements: IP 68 certification and first-rate multimedia audio department. The latter really surprised us positively, while we didn't too appreciate the lack of a fingerprint sensor, which now sounds like a standard in many terminals of the same price range. The aesthetics are not displeased, especially in consideration of the fact that we are faced with a rugged phone.

On Amazon the terminal is available for around 240 euros, obviously with the usual guarantees offered by the e-commerce giant. You can buy it directly from here.
