MPOW Solar Lights Review: 54 LEDs and three modes to illuminate your home

Home Reviews ,,,,, MPOW offers on Amazon a particularly assorted range of solar lights, all at a very low price, but able to offer a truly valid light point in any part of the house. Obviously, since these are lights with solar panels, they are exclusively useful for the outdoors. And then, considering the arrival of summer, they could be an extra touch for your villa by the sea or in the mountains.

How it is made

The test was carried out on the 54-LED model, available on Amazon in a single-piece pack, or in a 2-piece bundle. They come with a modern design, completely manufactured in plastic, with the small solar panels positioned on the top. Despite the lightness, and the non-premium materials, in the hand they still appear solid and robust, well designed, without creaking of any kind. Beyond the black plastics, the 54 LEDs, positioned mostly on the front, but also on the sides, completely envelop the lamp, therefore able to offer a rather wide beam of illumination. On the back the switch to activate the lamp in one of the three modes provided, in addition to the two hooks to fix them to the wall. The mounting screws are included in the package, even if to tell the truth we decided not to use them, in favor of grappling hooks. The latter, in fact, make assembly easier, but above all disassembly from the wall, while with the supplied screws it would have been more difficult to reach the back of the lamp to change, for example, lighting modes.

Lighting mode

As already mentioned, there are three different lighting modes available. The first allows the lamp to turn on in the dark, and to remain illuminated with an average light, for about 5 hours. The second, in addition to keeping the lamp on with medium light for about 5 hours, increases the light beam as a person passes, thanks to the integrated cell to detect movement. The third mode, on the other hand, causes the lamp to turn on only when a person passes by. The latter is the option that allows the lamp to have greater autonomy, while the modes that provide LEDs always on reduce the duration of the light beam. During our tests, as far as autonomy is concerned, we found a perfect correspondence between what was indicated by the manufacturer and what was actually found in use. After exposing the lamp to the sun all day, the light duration is 4 to 6 hours, just as indicated in the product sheet.

How does it work

The lamp works particularly well, at least in the modes in which it stays on all the time. The light beam is wide enough, perhaps to offer a light point outside your home, with a more than satisfactory duration, or in any case in line with what the manufacturer declares. A little less precise is the movement sensor, which in some modes is used to increase the power of the light beam: for correct operation it is required that the movement takes place near the sensor, while it does not work if it occurs at more than 2/3 meters away. On this the card is not very accurate, and even indicates the ability of the lamp to register movement at almost 8 meters.

The light beam is about 800 lumens, with the 54 LEDs that manage to provide more than satisfactory lighting. During our tests we turned the lamps towards the driveway: of course, it is not possible to completely illuminate a large room, but the beam is rather pleasant and serves as a light point at night, so as not to leave a completely dark room in the dark. part of the house. The lamps under test are IP65 certified, therefore resistant to water flows such as splashes or light rain.

Conclusions

We were delighted with the use of these lamps. They don't replace an outdoor lighting system, but they do provide a good spot of light around the perimeter of your home. They keep their promises in terms of autonomy, responding exactly to the times indicated by the manufacturer, with a rather satisfactory light beam. Overall, MPOW lights have a cost that is absolutely in line with what they offer. The advice, especially for villas or large houses, is to buy the product in a bundle, and start with a lighting system of at least 2 lights, to gradually expand it with the others in the catalog, of different shape and size. , depending on the uses.
