Mpow 10000 mAh review, the battery that does not give up portability

Home Hi-Tech Android World ,,,,, More and more necessary in the current smartphone landscape, power banks are indispensable accessories to extend the life of a portable device, especially useful during a trip out of town, to leave the anxiety deriving from the absence of a power outlet at home. The one under test Mpow, from 10000 mAh does not renounce portability, being all in all light and transportable.

If until some time ago the 10000 mAh batteries were absolutely heavy and bulky, with the passage of time it has been possible to create a good compromise between a full-bodied energy reserve and a rather low weight. The Mpow battery under test, in fact, manages to provide a good dose of energy, which go beyond a single charge, in just 265 grams, with small measures of 14 x 6.2 x 2.12 cm. This means that it can be safely carried even in a small bag, in a pouch, in a pocket of any jacket. In short, an absolutely acceptable compromise between power and size.

Also aesthetically, the Mpow battery is refined, with a matte black surface, which only has a striped pattern on the upper part, which makes it pleasant to the touch, but also to the eye. On one side, in addition to the power button and the MicroUSB input for charging, there are also very small blue LEDs. On the one hand their size does not bother, they can hardly be seen in a completely dark room, but on the other hand they provide useful information to be able to ascertain the residual charge of the power bank: with a light you will have about 25% autonomy, or less, while 4 lights indicate an estimated charge between 75 and 100%.

On one of the faces, however, there are two USB inputs, one optimized for iPhone, the other for Android. The first of the two has a 2A output, while the second only 1A. These, at least the data indicated in the manual, even if during our charging tests, with Android, we always recharged at about 1.2A of power. Overall, therefore, the battery is capable of delivering 3A of power, should it be decided to recharge two devices at the same time.

The different optimization of the ports ensures that the best charging results are obtained by inserting the USB respecting the words “iPhone” and “Android”. The ports work better, loading their respective devices faster. This does not exclude, of course, that it will be possible to charge two Android at the same time, or two iPhones at the same time. Just to provide some data, by loading an Android device in its port we obtained 1.2A of delivered power, while the same terminal, in the iPhone port, was unable to touch even 1A of delivered power. It should be noted that unlike other similar power banks, being the iPhone 2A port, it will also be possible to charge an iPad without any difficulty.

The maximum input in charging is very interesting. Unlike other entry level 10000 mAh batteries, this Mpow accepts 1.5A input, reducing exponentially the charge recovery time. Using a 2A power supply it took us about 6 hours to recharge the battery, compared to about 8 hours it would have taken if it had a 1A input.

Coming now to the amount of energy that we actually managed to deliver, out of the 10,000 mAh declared, there are about 6500 mAh that can actually be obtained. This result, however, varies greatly depending on the use of the two USB ports: charging a 1A device, using the 2A port, will cause greater dispersion, reducing the mAh actually delivered. This means that it is possible to recharge an iPhone 7 Plus with a 2900 mAh battery, at least twice, while an iPhone 7 can be recharged at least 3 times, with a small amount of remaining autonomy.

In conclusion, the Mpow battery is a product to be taken into consideration especially if you have Android and iOS devices at home, being able to make the most of the optimization of the two ports. The outputs, one of 1A and one of 2A, make it an ideal product for those with an iPhone or any smartphone and tablet. Worthy of attention is the charging of the battery itself at 1.5A, which greatly reduces the time required to recharge the power bank.

The real element that makes the battery a worthwhile purchase is the price of only 18.99 euros. Considering that it is a 10000 mAh power bank, but which has small dimensions and weight, to transport it easily, this is an excellent compromise.

In practical terms: if you are looking for a high capacity battery, at a competitive price, useful for most of the purposes pursued with a rechargeable battery, this 10000 mAh Mpow is worth considering.
