Toshiba Exceria Pro SD review, fast as light

Home Reviews ,,,,, A fast SD card is needed. But if you need a very fast one, turn to Toshiba's SD Exceria Pro. This is the result of a series of tests that we have carried out in recent days on the cards of the Japanese company.

Toshiba, although little known in the market for SD cards, is a very important company when it comes to memory chips. Products in the form of SSDs have ended up in some Macs and many consumer electronics accessory manufacturers use Toshiba components themselves. This experience is applied to the world of photography or video, especially the 4K one, which needs media that are not very fast, but also capable with the Toshiba Exceria Pro UHS-II all this is really within reach. The proof comes of benchmarks we have done.

Unable to test the card with a camera compatible with the UHS-II standard, we used a Kingston FCR-HS4 external memory reader obtaining very high performances with a small of 256 Mbps per second in reading and 224 Mbps in writing, very much close to the declared performance (270 and 250 Mbps per second) by Toshiba and superior to that of a SanDisk Extreme Pro that we evaluated shoulder to shoulder. SanDisk's SD did not exceed 240 Mbps for reading and 210 for writing.

Exceria Pro cards prove to be very fast even when used in a UHS-I reader such as the Mac's. In this case they peak at 94 Mbps in reading and 90 Mbps in writing. Other UHS-II cards (such as San Disk's Extreme Pro) when used in a non-UHS-II compatible reader or camera are not as fast. In fact they are often slower than a UHS-I card

In conclusion, the Toshiba Exceria Pro UHS-II are an excellent product, ideal for those who have to make videos in 4K and then transfer it to a computer without wasting too much time. They are obviously a great product also for the world of photographers who shoot in RAW and therefore generate large files.

Exceria cards are on sale in different denominations from 16 to 256 GB.
