Twitter launches Super Follows, a subscription to access exclusive content

The exclusive paid contents are coming . This is the novelty of Twitter , which has decided to test the Super Follows , so that content creators can monetize.

What is Super Follows

Twitter unveiled the launch of Super Follows. This is a new feature that allows users to create exclusive content for followers willing to pay a subscription to be able to use it. The creators will then be able to allocate some of their tweets only and exclusively to the Super Followers. The contents, therefore, will be shown only on the main pages of the subscribers. The social network announced this new feature last February.

The trial phase in the United States

It starts with a trial phase, currently limited to users on the iOS app located in the United States and Canada. A number of accounts were selected for an initial test group. Twitter users who are in these regions will therefore be able to select the Super Follow and subscribe to the accounts in question. Super Followers are identifiable thanks to a badge that will appear under their name when they reply to tweets. Twitter plans to extend this feature to iOS in more countries over the next few weeks, and then expand to android users and the web without going exclusively through apps.

The cost of the subscriptions

The subscriptions provided by Super Follows are the following: $ 2.99, $ 4.99, or $ 9.99. Once selected, one of these fees will be paid on a monthly basis through Stripe. Accounts capable of creating exclusive content will be able to collect up to 97% of subscription revenue, up to an earning limit of $ 50,000. Twitter will, in fact, retain 3% of the total proceeds of Ticketed Spaces and Super Follows. Once this quota is reached, users will be able to earn up to 80% of the revenue, with a social commission of 20%.

The requirements necessary to activate Super Follows

How do I become eligible to unlock the Super Follows feature? To apply, Twitter has created a waiting list, available under the monetization tab in the app. The requirements are: be 18 years old, have a following of at least 10,000 followers, have tweeted 25 times in the last 30 days, be in the United States and comply with Twitter’s policy regarding this new feature. Participants included in this trial phase of Super Follows will also need to maintain a minimum of 25 tweets every 30 days.

The statements from Twitter

“With Super Follows you can monetize your following where they already live, right on Twitter. Super Follows can help you earn monthly by sharing an extra level of content and conversations with your biggest supporters on Twitter. Be yourself with your biggest supporters. Share unfiltered thoughts, previews, and subscriber-only conversations with followers who know you best. Identify and interact with your biggest supporters by looking for the Super Follower badge when they reply to you “reads the Twitter blog.

Towards monetization

Over the past few months, Twitter has been working hard to find different ways to monetize its content. It recently featured the tip jar and a newsletter subscribe button from a Twitter profile without having to follow a link to a separate website to proceed with the inscription. With Super Follows comes a subscription system to the contents of your favorite accounts. Freedom to selected users in terms of content: discussions, surveys, links to their website, portfolio, or online store. You can start conversations, ask fans questions or go beyond 280 characters by sharing voice tweets.

Social network strategies

” Exploring public funding opportunities will allow creators and publishers to be supported directly by their audience, “said Twitter. According to the social network, Super Follows are aimed at accounts such as activists, journalists, musicians, content curators, writers, gamers, astrology enthusiasts, beauty experts and skincare, comedians, fantasy sports experts, and more. The social takes examples from other platforms and social networks ( Patreon, Facebook, GitHub, and YouTube ) that have already introduced subscription features to allow creators to monetize.
