WhatsApp is finally allowing the transfer of chats from iOS to Android, despite being an incredibly complicated process. We have been checking the reports of the iOS to Android data migration program on WhatsApp since April, but with no confirmation from the Facebook-owned company until recently.
At the “Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked” event, we learned that the company’s new releases will be part of the first group of devices that will allow the transfer of WhatsApp from iOS to Android. However, there is still no confirmation of the possibility of data transfer from Android to iOS.
According to WABetaInfo, the possibility of transferring chats from Android to iOS could become a reality very soon. WABetaInfo often gives access to versions of the messaging App not yet officially released containing beta versions of WhatsApp.
As carefully specified, there is not always a guarantee that the version downloaded earlier than expected will work perfectly but, most likely, you will need a cable to perform the move. WABetaInfo, however, confirms that those who perform the action must have already downloaded the Move to iOS app.
Information on how the new feature will do its job is scarce at the moment, but news about how it works will most likely be released through the different beta updates of WhatsApp.
WABetaInfo also adds that this feature will certainly not be limited to Samsung devices only, although it is unclear how many other companies will embrace the feature once it is launched on the market. To date, no release date has been declared yet so, most likely, the new version may not be ready for several months yet.
WhatsApp has become full of new features in the past few months, perhaps in response to the huge boom of new messaging platforms (especially those that allow the exchange of audio and video calls), all born in the flow of 2020. The new apps that give the possibility to make audio and video calls took root on the web in March, new possibilities to “play” with backgrounds arrived in December and the opportunity to delete sent messages was revealed in November.
