Google Stadia has announced a new feature called “Phone Link”. When Stadia first came out, the only controller you could use was the Google Stadia one. Later came support for third-party controllers such as an Xbox controller, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch or touch controls while playing on their smartphone.
Phone Link now allows you to use your phone display as a touch gamepad to play Stadia games on any TV endpoint for Stadia, be it Chromecast Ultra, Android TV, or Chromecast with Google TV.
Another important feature of Phone Link, is the ability to use your smartphone not as a touch controller itself, but as a bridge to connect unsupported controllers to your TV to play . Doing so can connect many older controllers, which cannot connect via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi. Phone Link is starting to be distributed these days in the United States, with a probable arrival in the future also in Europe.
