Google with a little surprise but not too much move, knowing the company, has just confirmed names, designs and much more on its next smartphones, Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro.
Both models will debut this fall, although Google hasn't specified exactly when, probably in mid-October. At launch, we will certainly know more about the new features, technical specifications, pricing and availability, but today's preview still reveals a lot.
For starters, Google talks about the design of the new Pixel 6 series. Both smartphones have an “industrial design”, with the Pro having a “clear polished aluminum frame” and the base model having a “matte aluminum finish”. Interestingly, the base model will have less formal colors than the Pro.
The Pixel 6 series will have a huge rectangular relief for the rear cameras, covering the horizontal width, to accommodate a multi-camera setup with three sensors: a main wide-angle camera, a secondary ultra-wide camera and a tertiary telephoto lens.
Google has confirmed some additional hardware details, the Pixel 6 Pro will have a 6.7-inch Quad HD + resolution display with the wide-angle sensor that “absorbs 150% more light”. The Pixel 6 will have a 6.4-inch display with Full HD + resolution. Both devices will obviously be sold with Android 12 and therefore all its features, such as Material You.
The biggest news, however, is the presence of a processor created by Google. The rumors in fact spoke of a proprietary chip “GS101”, where “GS” probably referred to “Google Silicon” and “101” to indicate the first edition. Today, in fact, Google has confirmed its new first processor marketed as “Google Tensor”. The American company ensures not only top performance and on par with all flagships, but an artificial intelligence never seen before.
