The era of the Green Pass officially began on July 1st. The certification is issued to anyone who has completed a dose of the vaccine (find more details on this below), is cured of Covid-19 or has tested negative for a swab in the last 48 hours and is available in both print and digital. The Pass is valid for travel throughout the European Union, since it was made with an agreement between member states, allows you to travel freely and is not subject to certain restrictions still present.
All European nations can issue certification and are required to accept those issued in other EU countries. Although designed for vaccines recognized by the EU, each individual state has the right to extend the benefits to other types of vaccine as well, just as they can consider the Pass valid even after only one dose. This is the position of Italy so far, even if the increasing spread of the Delta variant – more contagious and from which one is protected only after two doses – is putting this into question. approach. The EU has in fact formally agreed to issue the Green Pass only after the completion of a cycle (i.e. two doses, except for Johnson & Johnson).
If a remodeling appears increasingly probable in our country, various uncertainties remain also for Italians who have been vaccinated abroad (for study or work reasons) and would like to have the Green Pass recognized here or who would like to receive the second dose in Italy. According to the Prime Ministerial Decree of 17 June, the validation of operations carried out outside national borders would be the responsibility of the Usmaf, the Maritime, Air and Border Health Offices or the diplomatic representation, but it seems that the procedures have not yet been activated.
