Google and Samsung are working on a new operating system for wearables to replace Google's current Wear OS software and Samsung's Tizen wearable operating system. The updated platform could finally give non-Apple smartwatches an edge.
Google recently published a support article explaining the upcoming Wear OS update, which is now officially called Wear OS 3. “For the previous generation of Wear OS smartwatches,” says Google, “a system update to Wear OS 3 will bring all the news of the version “.
The support article states that Mobvoi TicWatch Pro 3 GPS, TicWatch Pro 3 Cellular / LTE and TicWatch E3 will receive Wear OS 3, as well as “the new generation of devices from Fossil Group to be launched later this year”.
Even if your watch is eligible for the update, it will probably take some time before it is downloadable for everyone. Google claims that the system update won't begin until the second half of 2022. This means that Fossil's upcoming Gen 6 watches will still launch with Wear OS 2.
