Hayolu GT1 Pro the low cost earphones you were looking for

Hayolu GT1 Pro the low cost earphones you were looking for

The popularity of the AirPods coupled with the low cost of components sparked the race for full wireless earphones which soon turned into the race to the bottom of the price of full wireless earphones. And, challenge within the challenge, hunting in the best relationship between price and quality in this sector.

The launch of the HAYLOU GT1 PRO is in this context, a product that has gained a certain visibility for its exceptionally low price in relation to functions and quality. We tested them to understand how much fame is deserved and what to reasonably expect,

Hayolu GT1 Pro, a premise

The Hayolu GT1 Pro to gain popularity they had a push: the fact of having come out of the endless Xiaomi incubator. Hayolu was in fact one of the companies supported economically by Xiaomi.

This means that, while not technically a Xiaomi product, behind its products there is necessarily a certain originality and some inspiration of innovation; otherwise there would have been no development support from Xiaomi itself. Taking these earphones in hand it is not difficult to understand where the innovation lies: they are the smallest full wireless earphones we have handled.

Size is just the thing that strikes you first. The case, despite the 800 mAh declared, is smaller than that of the AirPods Pro and also that of the AirPods. It is a “pill” about 7 centimeters long with a diameter of 4 centimeters.

The case is not only small but also light: complete with earphones it weighs only 44 grams, about the same as the original AirPods. Unfortunately this goal is reached to the detriment of the quality of the plastics which is not excellent; certainly not that of the lid which appears quite fragile in appearance and in the sensation it returns.

The actual earphones are also really small and very light. They weigh about 4 grams and when worn they almost disappear inside the outer ear.

The ergonomic quality is of medium level. Obviously, these are In Ear earphones that are inserted into the earphone cable; the three rubber pads that we find in the package should adapt the Hayolu GT1 Pro to all conformations and in fact we did not feel bother wearing them even for a couple of hours. Too bad that their stability is quite revisable; we often find ourselves arranging them for fear that they will fall, especially when they are used for physical activity.

So despite the IPX5 certification, higher than that of the PowerBeats Pro which are IPX4, they don't seem to be very suitable for the gym or running. Moreover, the fact that we are talking (as we will say shortly) about touch earphones, the need (or the temptation) to fix the earphones, generates involuntary actions such as switching from one track to another or stopping the music.

Hayolu GT1 Pro how they work

With the Hayolu GT1 Pro we are talking about Bluetooth 5 earphones, capable of auto-pairing and low consumption. They lack the ability to turn on and off when put on or taken out of their ears because there are no infrared sensors like in other similar products. On the contrary, to turn on-turn off you must proceed using the touch on the earphones themselves.

In this regard, it is important to note that we are talking about touch earphones. In practical terms there are no buttons but sequences of touches on a sensor located on both earphones. This sensor controls not only switching on and off, but also activating the music and switching between tracks. Good idea in its conception, but not implemented perfectly.

Perhaps due to the use of a not particularly fast processor and a small touch surface, it is not easy to guess the right rhythm of the touches and the exact position of the touch. After some practice the main functions (music on and off; answering calls) become intuitive, but some others like Siri recall (three taps on the left earphone) we never managed to get it.

Sound quality

When it comes to music quality when discussing full wireless earphones, you have to set the bar at the right point and even more so when it comes to 20 euro earphones like the ones we are talking about.

Correctly set the parameter, certainly not very high for the basic technology nor comparable to that of products that cost fifteen times more, on which to measure the Hayolu GT1 Pro, we must say that we were pleasantly surprised.

The sound is oriented on warm tones with a strong propensity for bass which are reproduced quite pronounced. The mids are also acceptable, even good if we consider the price of the product. The highs and the human voice, on the other hand, cannot be considered a benchmark even in this price range.

But many headsets of this type rely on bass. On the other hand, the stage effect with the separation of the two channels and the sound quality even at a high level is decidedly of excellent level (always in relation to the price); distortion is in fact modest.

Soundproofing and call quality

The soundproofing due to the rubber pads is good. Even at a low volume of the music, little of the ambient noise is perceived; we are not talking about the rumble or low frequency sounds that are not canceled by any active noise suppression system, but the chatter or even the sound of a TV or radio.

From this point of view, the Hayolu GT1 Pro are an interesting product for those who travel by subway or train and do not want to invest in much more expensive accessories to gain some rest from the always frequent futile discussions of travel companions not sought or required. .

As for the telephone functions, we are not talking about earphones that are born with this specific need in mind and in fact it seems that Hayolu has not bet many cards on it.

We will hear our interlocutor quite well but, according to what we have experienced, our interlocutor will not hear us very well if there is noise around. The digital system for the suppression of environmental disturbance is not in fact at the top; perhaps also the placement of the microphones and their sensitivity, as well as the distance from the mouth, have an impact.

Autonomy

The autonomy of is excellent, considering that we are talking about 4 grams earphones and therefore have a very small battery. We measured around three hours, of music added to about ten minutes of phone call.

In fact, we are not too far from the first generation AirPods. The case, as mentioned, has 800 mAh of capacity and according to the manufacturer it should recharge the batteries of the earphones for a range of 26 hours.

It is interesting to use a series of LEDs on the case to signal battery charge. Other similar products in price have nothing of the kind.

Conclusions

As mentioned at the beginning, with the Hayolu GT1 Pro we are talking about earphones that aim to maximize the ratio between price and performance and in many respects these accessories succeed perfectly. These are very small and almost imperceptible earphones in your pocket, capable of competing in this aspect with the AirPods, which have a more than good autonomy and a sound that, while not being able to compete with that of much more expensive earphones, is quite pleasant.

In addition, the Hayolu GT1 Pro are also able to isolate from the surrounding environment during the routes that a commuter travels every day. What we did not like are the poor stability in the ears, the very imprecise touch control system and the unsatisfactory call quality especially for those on the other end of the phone.

In any case, if you are looking for earphones that you will use occasionally to make phone calls, which you do not need for running or mountain biking, but which are on average good and that you can take with you forgetting to have them and even lose them without thinking about suicide, the Hayolu GT1 Pro are for you. Spending less to get more is probably impossible.
