Facebook-owned WhatsApp online messaging app announced it had reached two billion users. He made it known in a post on his corporate blog. The new data means that in the last two years it has continued to grow: total users were 1.5 billion in January 2018 (four years ago it was about one billion). WhatsApp remains less popular than Facebook, which claims to have more than 2.5 billion monthly active users. Instagram, another popular Facebook-owned app, has around a billion of them, but official figures are stuck at about a year and a half ago.
