Agcom fined Amazon of 300 thousand euros for offering postal services without having the authorization

Agcom (the Authority for Communications Guarantees) fined Amazon of 300 thousand euros “for having exercised postal activities, that is to say the parcel delivery service, without the required authorization”, that is, for having carried out postal services without have the qualification to do so. To obtain the authorization it is necessary to be in compliance with certain rules such as “the provisions on working conditions provided for by national legislation and by the reference collective labor agreements in force in the postal sector, being in compliance with the contribution obligations for the employees employed and the adoption of the service charter for users “. Last December, Agcom had already warned Amazon, which now has 60 days to suspend activities or to comply: ask for permits from the Ministry of Economic Development, register and submit to Agcom control.

Amazon was fined because its business is not limited to the logistics management of its products but because it has organized a network to deliver those sold by others, as any courier would do. The other critical aspect is the presence of the so-called lockers, that is the lockers distributed in the cities and accessible to the public, where you can collect your package.
