Home Hi-Tech Hardware and Peripherals ,,,,, There are so many wireless keyboards available for purchase on the market. Often they all share the design, and it could not be otherwise. Yet Alfawise offers something truly original. The Alfawise K800 keyboard and mouse combo features round keys and a retro design, which brings the peripheral closer to a typewriter.
It goes without saying that the most obvious peculiarity of this keyboard is its design. You may like it or not, but it is undeniable that it is a different device than usual. First of all the coloring: fire red, with black keys. Each key is perfectly round and, at least initially, you will be slightly confused, especially if you have never used a similar keyboard before.
At first glance, however, the keyboard appears particularly comfortable. After a few minutes of typing it feels particularly comfortable. The keys are particularly high, they are pressed really well, and overall the keyboard doesn't miss a beat. Too bad that the keyboard does not have feet to raise it slightly from behind: a small inclination would have made typing even more comfortable, considering that the keys are particularly high. If you have a tall desk, you may need a particularly tall chair to be able to type comfortably.
As already mentioned, typing is really comfortable. The keyboard isn't particularly quiet, but the noise it generates is almost pleasant. The keyboard has the QWERT layout, but does not have the accented symbols. This may not be a problem for those who are familiar with keyboards, but it may slightly confuse those who are not used to writing. Looking for accented letters and symbols may require, at least initially, a running-in of a few hours.
The keyboard, on the back, has small rubber pads that keep it firmly on the desk: while typing, the keyboard does not move even a millimeter.
Overall, we are satisfied with the quality of the device, also in consideration of the very low price. Moreover, combined with the keyboard also a mouse, always in black and red color.
The paired mouse also has good quality, although it surprised us less than the keyboard. The plastics are particularly light, the clicks of the two buttons are, however, comfortable and not very noisy. In addition, there is a key to increase or decrease the pointer speed. The scroll wheel does its job, although obviously it doesn't look as good as that of more expensive mice.
In short, the mouse is sufficient, but it has nothing original, unlike the keyboard which instead offers a certainly unique design. The touch and feel is better on the keyboard, while the mouse is still sufficient.
As already mentioned, the price must also be taken into consideration: the Alfawise K800 mouse and keyboard combo has a price of just 23.73 euros . We remind you that it is a wireless keyboard and not bluetooth: this means that for correct operation it is necessary to insert the receiver included in the package into the PC / Mac.
The keyboard has a Windows key, but obviously it works without any problem on Mac too.
Conclusions
Alfawise K800 has originality on its side. Initially you will have to get used to the round shape of the keys and, above all, to the fact that there are no accented letters. After an initial run-in period, however, you will appreciate a good build quality, and a very pleasant typing. The excursion of the keys is particularly high, the sound produced by the pleasant keystrokes. A good buy, to have an out of the ordinary keyboard on your desk.
