This accessory, which we tested a few days in the editorial office, is practically identical in shape, coupling system and materials to the PeakDesign CapturePro that we reviewed some time ago with which we compared it, therefore it is equally versatile and resistant. , proving to be a valid ally for those looking for an alternative solution for the transport of reflex cameras (but not only) at a really low price.
How it's made
The Andoer clip is made entirely of sturdy metal apart from the plastic quick release button and the rubber section fixed on the plate, both recognizable in the photos as it is blue in color. It weighs 134 grams including the plate, very little if we think that we will entrust hundreds of euros of equipment to this accessory.
On the back of the clip we find a threaded hole for standard 1/4 '' screw , useful for screwing it to a tripod or monopod and thus exploiting the coupling mechanism and quick release of the reflex with these products. The system is made up of two parts which are held closed “like a sandwich” by two screws, black, on both sides. Unscrewing the left one will open the scissor mechanism that allows you to separate the two parts, to which the system to which we want to fix the system is substantially tightened in the center. This allows you to close the clip, for example, on the shoulder strap of a backpack, on the belt of trousers or on the shoulder strap of a bag, as long as the thickness does not exceed one centimeter.
The plate supplied, square in shape, must be fixed under the camera by means of the built-in screw (the accessory can be fixed to the latter if necessary included in delivery which offers the universal attachment for action cameras ). This shape allows you to lock it to the clip from any side, thus choosing the most congenial orientation based on the moment: for example, you can lock the reflex with attached lens that dangles downwards while moving or, in the case of a lens change, with the lens protruding laterally, thus facilitating the entire operation.
The release of the plate, as explained above, takes place by pressing the blue side button. The screw that we find on the opposite side is a safety system that allows you to lock this button thus avoiding accidental pressures during movements: in this way the reflex will not risk to unhook suddenly especially in the event that it receives an accidental blow.
How is it going
We did some tests and the impressions we had are the same as we have known for more than a year, since we have been in possession of the PeakDesign CapturePro. In fact, it offers the same functions and the dimensions are the same, as is the quick coupling and release system.
In the case of the Andoer clip we noticed four holes in the plate that the most paranoid could use for example to attach an additional safety strap, or perhaps exploit for the arrangement of a handle for the reflex camera (like this one) thus abandoning the shoulder strap.
Although knowing and using this same system for some time, for the record we tried to fix the clip on the shoulder strap of the backpack appreciating the better stability of the camera attached to it, especially when accompanied by a heavy zoom. In fact, the weight is distributed well but part of the stability is entrusted to the shoulder strap, which must be wide and thick enough.
From our point of view it is better then if you use the system to fix the reflex to the belt of the pants because it does not affect the user in the use of a backpack and can facilitate lens change. Furthermore, by placing it on the side, it is easier during long walks even if you have to deal with the fact that you have a protrusion on the side, so it can be uncomfortable in crowded places or where there is the risk of bumping into something or someone. .
Conclusions and retail price
It is an accessory that all photographers, professionals or simple enthusiasts, should take into consideration especially in relation to the price for which it is proposed.

In our opinion, the cost is even lower than that offered by the product itself, starting from the lightness and strength of the materials. It is practical and the system is intuitive and reliable thanks also to the safety screw which avoids any accidental pressing of the quick coupling-release button. It is one of the less intrusive solutions that allow you to transport the reflex with unconventional methods and it is worth considering it also for use with an action camera.
