Anker battery cover review for iPhone 6 and 6s

Home iPhonia iPhone Accessories ,,,,, Why propose a test on a battery cover for the “old” iPhone 6 and 6s after many years? Believe it or not, paradoxically, such an accessory is much more useful now than in the past: unless you have recently bought the iPhone, or have not had the battery replaced, after years of using these terminals, autonomy begins to diminish, due to the numerous charging cycles on the shoulders. The solution, then, can come from a battery cover like that of Anker.

Given this premise, the Anker battery cover under test is probably three of the most minimal available on the market. Obviously, its use goes to “weigh down” the light lines of the iPhone, which is still fully usable, while accepting the compromise of a small change in size, weight and, above all, in thickness. In particular, this battery case consists of two separate elements: the first, the larger one, contains the battery and has four LEDs on the back that indicate the charge status of the peripheral. The second piece, actually smaller, serves to close the shell, ensuring that the battery completely protects the iPhone, and wraps it precisely, like a second skin.

The battery cover is entirely “lined” with an opaque plastic, which adds grip to the device, which in this way will be less slippery than normal. It is quite light, even considering the additional 2850 mAh battery, and adds only 85 grams to the weight of the iPhone. The thickness is reduced, if we consider that we are talking about a cover with battery: only 1.2 centimeters, against the 0.7 of the phone without a case.

Nautically, the cover leaves the smartphone functions intact, having all the openings necessary for correct operation. On the right side, at the bottom, there is the MicroUSB charging socket, while to synchronize the device with a PC or Mac it will be necessary to extract it, to “free” the Lightning port. However, it will not be necessary to remove it from the case to recharge it, because the Micro USB port passes the current directly to the phone, thanks to the Lightnig connector included. In practice we will be able to charge the phone first and then the battery case, simply by leaving them connected to a charger.

As for performance, it must be said that of the 2850mAh declared on paper, the intrinsic and natural dispersion factor for all batteries, it is possible to actually use about 2000. This means the possibility of recharging the iPhone 6 / 6s once: in this way, it can be stated with certainty that the Anker battery cover doubles the life of the smartphone.

Charging the smartphone via the cover is not very fast, taking more than the canonical hour and 40 that passes if you use the normal socket. It is not, however, a problem, since it is a cover that connects to the iPhone and that is carried as if it were a single body. Charging the battery itself is also quite slow, and it will take just under three hours to bring the cover from 0 to 100%.

The battery, it is necessary to highlight, boasts the Mfi brand, therefore certified by Apple: it is a detail of no small importance and that justifies the higher price than the average. This means that the battery will certainly continue to work even with the next iOS updates, while if you rely on a non-Mfi battery, the risk is that it will not be able to use it over time. Another element not to be silent about is the ability of the battery not to heat up very much when it is in operation: this allows the user to continue using the device, without experiencing discomfort deriving from excessive overheating.

Conclusions

If your iPhone 6, or 6s, should have already blown out a few too many candles, it is likely that the battery will no longer perform as it once did: and therefore, for this reason, the solution of a battery cover, which also sacrifices a little appearance of the device could be ideal. If only to use it, for example, during a trip out of town, in such a way as to have two full days of autonomy, without having to worry about charging.

On Amazon it costs 39.99 euros at the time of writing and can be purchased directly from this address in black. On the occasion of this review, Anker grants a discount of ten euros. Just use this code, valid until the end of June, in the cart: JQ8D2Y9R
