There were even before, but it is undeniable that the fashion of wireless chargers like Anker PowerWave 7.5 Pad has jumped to the headlines thanks to the launch of the iPhone 8/8 Plus and iPhone X, the first Apple models to be compatible with it.
And in this sector Anker, one of the most important brand in mobile top-ups, is proving to be at ease with a large series of models for all pockets and for all needs, which are much more complex than you think.
Wireless charging, here on an iPhone 8 with silicone case
What then, to be honest, the PowerWave 7.5 Pad is wireless, “without wires”, in the most literary sense of the term, because it does not use cables or connectors but certainly not in the common sense of remote operation (such as a Bluetooth headset or a Wi-Fi mouse), because smartphones and chargers must be in contact to work.
But it is inn eg it is suitable for those who have a modern smartphone on their desk (like the latest iPhones, with at least iOS 11.2, and perhaps also the next SE 2) but also a Samsung Galaxy S7, S8 and S9 (with their respective Plus models) and Galaxy Note 8 such an object is very convenient, especially if used in the office, where the use of the smartphone is often hectic, and leaving it in charge between a phone call and the other is in this way very convenient.
PowerWave 7.5 Pad, Anker has the party dress
The PowerWave 7.5 Pad packaging it is simple, minimalist but with attention to the smallest details: outside the cardboard box there is an embossed graphic that recalls different charging accessories (emphasizing the role of Anker in the market), a rather unusual factor for a brand that sells mainly through Amazon, but more what a welcome, because it certifies the care in the product, which we will then see also in the actual operation.
Inside we find the charger , as big as the palm of a hand, a MicroUSB cable for connecting to the power source, the USB-A power supply and a small introductory manual (which you can safely ignore, the operation is really elementary).
Once everything is connected, to activate the recharge, simply place a compatible phone on the surface, taking care not to obstruct the small blue LED on one side, probably inserted to facilitate the correct position of the smartphone.
The top surface of the charging surface is non-slip, which prevents the smartphone from “running away” even if the position is not completely flat.
The shape is circular and free of buttons, the only thing that can be noticed in the lower part are the slots for heat dissipation, the MicroUSB connector and precisely the small upper LED, which can be seen very well in the dark, less during the day. The original cable is just under a meter long, but you can replace it with other MicroUSB cables at will.
Fast yes, but that fan …
While charging the The blue LED stays on and a small fan at the bottom activates, preventing the power supply from reaching high temperatures. According to Anker, the fan allows the device to quickly charge the phone even when after several minutes to avoid overheating, the performance of competing products drops. The problem is that the fan, while not absolutely noisy, has a perceptible rustle in the silence. In practice it is not noticed during the day but at night it could be perceptible, so we preferred not to put it in the bedside table next to the bed but to leave it near the Mac in the office, whose position is probably ideal.
As for recharging, we can safely endorse the data declared by Anker: the base tested with an iPhone 8, the battery went from a measly 1% to just over 50% in about 30 minutes, in which the phone, turned on, it has not received any phone calls but has carried out the normal notification and control activities of incoming messages via Wi-Fi.
As you can see in the photos, then, the charging was carried out with a phone complete with a silicone case: Anker states that PowerWave 7.5 Pad supports cases up to 5 mm thick but warns that the use of credit cards inside the cases could interfere with charging.
We tested the charging base with an iPhone 8 and a Sam sung Galaxy S9, both with silicone case and everything went well, and although for the Galaxy we did not carry out time tests, the charging was activated immediately by placing the phone.
We add that also other cases they may offer some problems, such as some metal models and those with built-in battery, but this happens with all chargers do this type. So if you want to use PowerWave 7.5 Pad, it's better to opt for an elementary case (or no case).

Conclusions
We have not used many, especially because the technology is still young and evolving and it will take at least a few years before the proposals line up, however at the moment and data in hand this PowerWave 7.5 Pad is one of the best models on the market , starting from the packaging up to daily use.
The insertion of the fan prevents its use near the user at night, but in the office (or in other parts of the house, we have positioned very well in the living room under the TV) is very convenient: the cost, also considering the competition, is aligned and perhaps even slightly cheaper than other proposals with the same potential, but at this point we must also emphasize that the use of the PowerWave 7.5 Pad allows reuse of the Lightning cable d iPhone in another place.
