Stealing them is easy and getting caught very difficult: bicycle thefts in Italy are a business worth over one hundred million euros a year and although they are worth little on the black market, they guarantee easy cash and without major risks. The statistics speak for themselves: one in three cyclists was a victim of thieves (some numbers: 320,000 bikes stolen in Italy in 2012, almost 13,000 more than car theft).
How to do it, so, to defend yourself? There are chains of all types, from the weakest to lock the rod to a pole to the sturdy (but also heavy) ones that are controlled via Bluetooth from the smartphone, without forgetting the systems that even block the wheel. But if they have targeted your bicycle, you can be sure that sooner or later they will be able to take it away.
To minimize the risks , however, you can combine a good chain with an anti-theft device, and in this case we would like to recommend Antusi A6, tested on the road by our editorial staff in recent days and which was pleased with the double functionality, that is to work as a rear light ( thus ensuring excellent visibility on the road even at night) during pedaling and become an excellent deterrent for thieves when left unattended.
What's in the box
The box of Antusi A6 sale is very stocked. In fact, inside, in addition to the anti-theft light and the remote control for remote control, we find:
Assembly
Assembling the alarm is very simple. It is possible to choose between two positions: semi-hidden under the saddle or slightly lower by fixing it on the tubular section of the saddle. While this latter position is 100% compatible with any bicycle, the first system can only be used if the saddle allows it.
You must therefore first take a look at the lower area of the saddle of the bicycle on which you want to mount the light: if the frame of the saddle is built in such a way as to allow the attachment of the support (in the photo, letter A), then you can opt for this solution, otherwise you will have to fold with the coupling to the tube saddle through the alternative support (in the photo, letter B).

Whatever the chosen position, all you have to do is fix the support using the Allen screw (the shorter one for support B , the longest with support A), then hook the flashlight onto the sled (a “clack” will confirm that the tail light has been hooked) and lock it to the support with the mini Allen screw in kit.
Time 2 minutes and the anti-theft light is ready for use.
How Antusi A6 works
Light mode
The lighting of the light can be adjusted from the remote control by pressing the button marked with a lightning bolt, or by the red rubber button, visible on the bottom of the flashlight. In both cases, a first click activates the rapid flashing of the light, a second click will make the light flash more slowly, a third click turns it on steadily while the fourth click completely turns off the light.
Anti-theft mode
After having parked the bicycle and locked the barrel / wheels as deemed appropriate (chains, padlocks, etc.), the alarm can be turned on by pressing the button on the remote control marked with a closed padlock. Three acoustic signals will confirm its activation, which will be operational after about 5 seconds, to be precise from the moment in which you will hear a last, single beep.
We can also leave the bicycle unattended: it is enough in fact a small vibration to activate the Antusi A6 siren which will sound (120 decibel power, according to the manufacturer) for about 1-2 seconds. In this way the attacker is warned that the bicycle is equipped with an alarm or, in the event of an accidental impact – for example another cyclist who is blocking his bicycle nearby – the public peace will not be disturbed.
If, on the other hand, the vibration was caused by an attempted theft and the attacker is particularly insistent, a second vibration within 10 seconds from the first will activate the real alarm. The siren, with increasing volume, will sound for half a minute attracting the attention of any passers-by and discouraging (hopefully) the thief from carrying out the robbery.
To deactivate the alarm, simply press the button on the remote control with the symbol of an open padlock: a double acoustic signal will confirm that the alarm has been deactivated and from that moment we will be able to remove any additional protections before getting back on the saddle.

This button is also useful for deactivating the alarm if you accidentally bump the bicycle more than once, thus stopping the continuous sound of the siren before thirty seconds (then however, you have to click the closed padlock again to activate the alarm again).
If you then parked the bicycle with which you went to the office and you can keep an eye on it from the window, the button marked with the bell symbol can be useful if you notice someone spinning a little too close to your bicycle: if you are suspicious, just click to activate the horn and make them understand with what does it have to do.
Conclusions
The dual function of Antusi A6 – anti-theft and tail light – make it the essential purchase for all cyclists who usually leave their bicycle unattended. Especially in big cities, it is a small investment that can save hundreds of euros for the purchase of a new bicycle in case of theft.
