Apple has acquired Drive.ai, a startup that designs autonomous vehicle driving systems with a valuation of around $ 200 million. The company, in which several other companies had shown interest, ceased operations a couple of weeks ago and dozens of its engineers and employees have been hired by Apple. The cost of the acquisition was not disclosed, but Drive.ai had been struggling and looking for a buyer for several months. The transaction confirms Apple's interest in self-driving systems, on which it has never given particular details. In recent years, there has been talk of a more aggressive and direct commitment by Apple in the sector, but the company has since revised its plans and it is not clear what new projects it is working on.
