Apple stops making and selling all of its WiFi routers

Apple will stop manufacturing and selling its AirPort, AirPort Extreme, and Time Capsule routers as soon as it runs out of current supplies. The news was confirmed by the US company, but the withdrawal from this sector had been widely anticipated in recent years. In 2016 it was learned that Apple had divested its R&D division of WiFi routers, and the last major update of these devices was now in 2013. Appreciated for their capabilities and relative simplicity of configuration, in recent years Apple routers have been overtaken by cheaper and still quality alternatives, including some solutions offered by Google. However, Apple has not ruled out to return to dealing with routers in the future, in case it senses new opportunities and the possibility of innovating the sector. The company will still maintain technical support for the newer models of AirPort routers sold in recent years.
