Here at Cyber Layman we have seen many wireless chargers, because since in September 2017 Apple presented the iPhone 8 and iPhone X with, in fact, the induction charging capacity (Qi certification), the market has substantially exploded with models of all the types.
The Android world, to tell the truth, was already ready for a few years but as it often has been, it is only with the iPhone that the “there” has arrived for a market that promises to be very flourishing in the coming years with more and more models that will embrace this. technology.
The problem with these objects is that they often tend to all look alike: this model by Aukey, on the other hand, is an exception because where the others offer very discreet looks, on black or white colors and appropriate shapes, here it is an unexpected courage in the design that, at who writes, like it very much.
Compared to the others, the 10W Wireless Fast Charger gets you watched, we kept it under the TV in the living room and anyone who passed by noticed it and asked for information.
Construction
The constructive peculiarities of the 10W Wireless Fast Charger then are not resolved only with the look, there is more to examine: unlike other products, in fact, the Aukey model does not have a removable connector in the back, but a cable that creeps in. between the metal part below, which acts a bit like a cradle, and the upper refill part, the one in cotton.
The cable that comes out is gray in color (it would have been better to be more daring here too) and ends about 1 meter later with a USB-A connector, ready to connect to an external power supply (like that of the iPhone, so to speak) or to another charging device (for example we also used this JBL alarm clock that has two side USB connectors.
The thread, flat, never gets knotted but the plastic with which it is made, from time to time, intertwines a little and needs a brushing with the hands: this if we continue to move it, because once everything is positioned, the thread typically disappears.
The dimensions speak of a circle of about 11 cm in diameter by 0.6 thick, for a slightly more important weight than other chargers (due to the metal, where others usually use plastic).
Performance
Once the 10W Wireless Fast Charger has been activated, it waits for a compatible phone: by placing keys or other nothing happens, while when we placed the iPhone 8 under test, it immediately activated the charge, also indicated by the lightning LED that is turns on in the upper part of the surface, near the cable connection and which remains on, with a soft pulsation, for the entire charge.
We also looked for some more technical data, which on the website of the parent company there are: on the Amazon page instead it is shown in the diagram below, that for iPhone the maximum charge reaches 5W, unlike Android which instead manages to exploit all 10W available. This is not apparent to us, given that iPhone 8 and X can use up to 7.5W for a limit imposed by Apple due to the excessive heat charge.
In our tests, in fact, iPhone 8 had an increase of about 25% of charge per hour, fully charging in about three and a half hours, which is basically a value that matches competing models at 10W, remembering that tests of this type are subject to many variables and that it is always difficult to make objective statistics.
Considerations
10W Wireless Fast Charger by Aukey is a valid charger and that, not surprisingly, makes you look in the desk, which is not bad at all both as a product that knows how to stand out from the crowd and as an accessory to put on the desk, offering an excellent contrast especially if you have an antique wooden piece of furniture as a bedside table.
