The small cardboard box that houses the micro aircraft already gives an idea of how small the drone is in itself. It measures just 4cm on each side and has a really negligible weight. It does not, of course, have any rooms installed, nor can it be added to it at a later time. It is natural, it is a small acrobatic drone, with which to have fun mainly within the four walls of the house, but which amazed us for the different flight modes and, above all, for the ability to stabilize in the air and automatically maintain the height. Before starting the engines it will be necessary to charge it with the supplied USB. It is possible to charge it in any socket of a PC: for a complete recharge it takes very few minutes. You are ready to fly after about 20 minutes of charging, for a flight of 5/7 minutes.
In addition to the Drone, included in the package, also two other sets of spare propellers. This is an appreciable choice, which allows you to continue flying even if a propeller breaks, impacting some object during the flight. The replacement of the propellers is really simple and immediate: just remove the ones to be replaced and push the new ones into their seat. Therefore, the use of any tools, such as screwdrivers and the like, is not required.
Before starting the engines it is advisable to take a look at the manual, translated into an understandable but not perfect Italian. The drone, in fact, must be calibrated, to ensure maximum flight stability. Then there are three modes available, between easy, intermediate and advanced. These vary in how quickly the drone responds to commands. The micro remote control included in the sales package then offers the possibility of automatic take-off and landing: they work really well, and just press the relative buttons to see the drone hover in the air or land in total safety. What surprised us most, and which probably justifies a slightly higher price than others in the same category, is the ability of this Aukey to automatically maintain height.
Obviously, one should not think of a particularly performing Altidude Hold system as it is precise, but it is still an appreciable one, and one that works relatively well, and which gives the drone greater stability during flight. It is easy to fly, and it only takes a few minutes to become familiar with the controls. Moreover, the Aukey drone does not disdain stunts: it is possible to rotate it on itself during the flight, simply by pressing the right stick, followed by the choice of the direction of the flip.
Conclusions
The Aukey Mini Drone is an excellent Christmas gift for the little ones, but also for the older ones. It can be piloted easily, and is immediately charged after a few minutes. The different flight modes, the ability to flip in mid-air and, above all, the ability to maintain height with reasonable precision, make it superior to many others belonging to the same category.
