Home iPhonia iPhone Accessories ,,,,, In the past we have tried several Bluetooth headsets that we have defined as “invisible” due to their small size which made them much less conspicuous than the more common alternative solutions. Avantree Apico is the latest addition to this category that takes a further step in this direction thanks to an even more compact body but which, despite everything, promises excellent stability in the ear when wearing it.
As did
Ruler in hand, specifically it measures 1.5 centimeters on the longest side and is just 0.9 centimeters thick, all in a handful of grams, so few that our kitchen scale gives us a “0g” in an attempt to measure its weight .
To succeed in this miniaturization of weights and measures, the company has chosen a very light rigid plastic body, smooth on the inside in contact with the ear and rough on the outside, where there is the only button that regulates the ignition. and allows you to manage phone calls. The only metal part is the net that protects the driver while the headset that locks into the ear is covered with the classic in-ear rubber, of which we find two different sizes included in the package.
Here there is also a practical case to store it after use: since it is a very small object it is just as easy to lose, moreover the charging cable not using the most common microUSB connection must always be with us to allow us to recharge it. by car or in general when the need arises. The small clamshell case solves both problems, allowing us to protect it, not to lose it and to have the cable close at hand.
How is it going
Due to its particular shape, the headset can only be worn in the right ear. The manufacturer recommends keeping the smartphone on the same side, for example in the right pocket of your jeans, for better signal reception.
The pairing takes place in a few seconds: at the first start it is necessary to keep the power button pressed more than necessary to activate the pairing mode, recognizable by the operation LED which will flash alternating between red and blue colors.
As soon as we put it in our ear we were amazed by the stability of the headset. As we said, it is the shape that fits well inside the ear cavity, occupying all the space and locking itself firmly inside it. Compared to other earphones it does not need bows or other accessories and, contrary to what it may seem, it never fell out of our ear, not even during a very sultry day at the park (where we had a completely sweaty face) or during a run in the 'pedestrian area of our city, where we deliberately shook our head abruptly to test the effectiveness of the system.
However, each ear is different from another and we cannot be sure that stability is excellent for everyone. However, our ear has always seemed to us excellent as a yardstick precisely because the large ear cavity often makes all the headphones and earphones tested in the past less stable, immediately making us notice those that could not guarantee us sufficient stability (especially in tests of headphones for sportsmen).
Audio quality and field test
The audio quality is very good, not at the highest levels but sufficient to ensure clear listening to our interlocutor even in city traffic. The microphone is also very good, so much so that in the aforementioned situation those on the other side reported hearing our voice quite well.
The limit of this product emerges instead in the interaction. In fact, there are no buttons to adjust the volume, so you are forced to take the phone in your hand and adjust it from there (possibly you can simply press the volume keys of the smartphone leaving it in your pocket).
Even the only key available does not shine for its mode of use. In fact, there is no possibility to call the voice assistant: the single click allows you to answer or hang up a phone call, the double click instead recalls the last number. When listening to music, one click starts the playlist, another click pauses the audio playback.
Conclusions
This headset is among the smallest and least intrusive we've tried to date. This, combined with high stability without requiring the aid of a headband, make it easy to insert into the ear to quickly answer an incoming call and will reduce its visual impact for the duration of the call.
