Home iPadia iPad Accessories ,,,,, Cyber Layman tests the Avantree 100W bamboo charging station, with 10 USB ports and lots, lots of space available to order, organize and, above all, recharge your devices. It is an accessory designed, of course, for those who have many different terminals available, including smartphones, tablets, but also Apple Notebooks.
How it's made
The appearance of this station immediately catches the eye. Entirely made of real wood, it still offers a modern style, which is well suited to offices, but also to apartments, as long as it is placed in a rather large space. The station, in fact, has considerable dimensions, and certainly does not go unnoticed. In order not to run the risk of “flooding” the environment, it is necessary to place it on a rather large desk. Its dimensions are in fact approximately 28.6 x 9.7 x 19.3 cm, although it is possible to use only the upper compartment, transforming the charging station into a simple wooden dock where to place the various devices.
And in fact, the accessory is mainly composed of two wooden parts. The upper one, where there are five compartments that hold the various terminals, whether they are smartphones, tablets or notebooks, while the lower part is a large compartment where the charger is housed, on which there are 8 standard USB ports of 2.4A max. . The other two USB ports, on the other hand, are placed along one side: 1 USB-C port, the other USB Full size with support for Quick Charge 3 fast charging.
Obviously, in addition to recharging the terminals, the charging station helps to keep the desk tidy, allowing you to house smartphones, tablets and notebooks in a row, without too many wires on the desk. And in fact, the compartment below, in addition to containing the power supply, can house the various cables that are used to recharge the connected devices. These threads will remain totally invisible to the outside, making the environment more tidy. Also because, included in the sales bundle, there are Velcro straps to keep the area underneath even more tidy.
Overall, the Avantree charging station has an appreciable design, but remember that it is an accessory with generous dimensions, so it will be preferable to place it on a rather large desk. It should also be noted that the various compartments located on the upper part of the charging station are well spaced from each other, thus making it possible to house devices with cases, without having to remove them every time.
Technical features
First of all, it should be noted that the Avantree charging station does not have a power bank function: it does not store energy, and therefore needs to be always connected to the electrical outlet in order to recharge all your devices. It is therefore a fixed station, to be placed in a corner of your home or office. After all, a different approach would have been useless: considering the size and weight of the station it would not have been easy to transport it from one place to another.
As already mentioned, the station offers a total of 10 USB ports. Eight are located “under the hood”, are of standard size and each is capable of delivering a maximum power of 2.4 A. On the side, however, there is a USB port with support for Quick Charge 3.0 technology, therefore able to recharge devices that support it very quickly. Alongside, in addition to the on and off button of the entire station, and the input for the power supply, there is also a USB-C port, which will allow you to recharge the Apple Macbooks that offer this solution.
The charging station performs well, and does what it promises. We tried to charge several devices at once, between tablets and smartphones. The charging speed of the 2.4A ports is standard, and equates the result achievable from any other wall socket, but of course the advantage is that of being able to recharge up to 10 devices at a time. Faster, of course, is Quick Charge 3.0 USB charging, which only works on Android enabled devices. It is not compatible with the OnePlus dash charge, for example, which remain the terminals with the fastest charging system.
Of course, the manufacturer ensures maximum safety standards, thanks to an intelligent internal chip, which supplies the necessary current to each device being charged. This means that the 2.4A USB ports are able to recharge even slower devices: the system automatically recognizes the connected peripheral and delivers the maximum possible power, without exceeding. The safety equipment is completed by the protection for short circuits, that for overheating, and the CE certifications.
Conclusions
A complete charging station, with a modern design, but certainly generous in size. It does what it promises and is among the ideal solutions for those with numerous devices to recharge. The price is justified by the material, it is real wood, just a pity that the bundle does not include any charging cable, not even MicroUSB.
