Home iPhonia iPhone Accessories ,,,,, When it comes time to change the old headphones with a pair of the latest generation, there are several characteristics that are often examined in order to avoid making the wrong choice. If in the first place there is the need to eliminate tangles as much as possible without sacrificing the convenience of light and thin cables, then the Avantree NB02 that our editorial staff has had the opportunity to try recently become an interesting solution.
These headphones win the comparison with others of the same type because of the magnetic system that locks the headphones around the neck, combined with a semi-rigid necklace that helps to avoid knots when stored in a backpack pocket after use. Among other things, they are very light and the in-ear headphones are among the least bulky that we have had the opportunity to try most recently, making us prefer them also for the good audio quality in more than one context.
How they are made
As mentioned, these headphones are accompanied by a sort of rather flexible rubber headband that is positioned around the neck and then closes like a necklace thanks to a magnetic system. On the back, the one in contact with the neck, the headband is strengthened by a satin plastic insert that increases the surface in contact with the neck, while also improving comfort. The microUSB socket is also recessed on the lower edge, closed by a rubber cap, for recharging the batteries.
The two front clips that close with a magnet mount, on one side, the On / Off button, the microphone and the LED indicator, on the other, the buttons for volume control and the management of phone calls and music playback. The earphones are instead connected to the headband through the cable, approximately 25 centimeters long for each earphone, and held in place by a small slide that can slide along the headband, thus being able to be adjusted to the right length when listening to music avoiding dangling cables.
The earphones are very small and really light, they almost disappear when we put them in the ears, and the soundproofing is really very good (in this sense we point out that other interchangeable rubber pads of different sizes are also included in the package). They also incorporate, on the outside, a magnet that allows you to follow the line of the headband and close them around the neck when they are momentarily removed from the ears.
How are they doing
Qualitatively speaking, the audio is very good, the headphones are quite powerful and push especially the bass, thus proving to be quite valid even during sports training to give you the charge. They lose a little in the high frequencies, but you only notice it if you listen to the same song with the iPhone speaker or if you have a rather trained ear.
They are certainly not headphones for audiophiles, but for the system with which they are worn they are also comfortable at home, when you move from one room to another, perhaps leaving the iPhone charging, in order to continue listening to some music or immediately answer an incoming phone call. In the latter case we were pleasantly impressed by the quality of the microphone which enjoys the excellent position in the headband ensuring a very good reception: those who listened to us did not report any listening problems during the entire phone call. In addition, the collar vibrates when there is an incoming call, so even if the phone is on silent mode in another room, we will be notified directly from the headphones.
The magnets are quite strong. Trying to perform a few jumps or holding them around the neck during a run, the collar never released: only in one case, after the second somersault, the two wings released, while still remaining hanging around the neck.
As for autonomy, we have reached 8 hours of uninterrupted music listening at a medium-high volume, with an abundant half hour of phone use.
Conclusions
These earphones can work both in sports training, or simply at home or in the office, to listen to music occasionally on one side and answer phone calls on the other. It is the necklace system that pleases them compared to other Bluetooth headsets, as it always keeps them ready and hung around the neck, with the cable in order and without any rocking.
You can also twist them (as far as the collar allows) and put them in your pocket: you will always have them with you and you will hardly find yourself having to unravel knots. The only negative note in our opinion is in the price, perhaps a little high given the abundance of alternatives now available on the market.
