Those looking for a completely wireless pair of earphones to accompany sports activities should definitely consider those of Avantree. Codenamed Avantree TWS109, they have an attractive selling price (59.99 euros) compared to competing solutions and on their side they also have some advantages that should not be underestimated: they are excellently stable in the ears thanks to the “bow” arrangement and very easy to use due to touch controls.

How they are made
Each earphone weighs just 10 grams and has the classic shape of earphones for sports with hooking to headband. This is precisely one of the points in favor of these headphones which, unlike other True Wireless models for sportsmen, enjoy greater stability. Based on our tests from this point of view, we also consider them better than the wired counterpart which, in part, constrain the user's movements precisely because of the cable that hops behind the neck. Here there are no impediments if you run, jump or even do somersaults: the earphones remain largely stable in the ears, also facilitated by the excellent grip ensured by the in-ear rubbers.
shape, as we said, is the classic bow shape. They are slightly more rounded along the terminal part that disappears behind the ear: here, on the bottom, the microUSB socket is clearly visible, useful for recharging the internal battery, incorporated in this area of the shell.
The small On / Off button is recessed in the internal section of the headset for switching the individual headset on and off, while the microphone hole that enables phone calls is visible on the front area. We find one for each earphone, this means that we can answer phone calls even wearing only one of the two, and without distinguishing between the left and the right.
The other obvious advantage we mentioned at beginning of the article lies in the metal plate recessed on the external side of the earphones: characterized by a pleasant smoothness to the touch, this area is enabled to recognize the touches of the fingertip. In practice, instead of having to deal with buttons that are sometimes inconvenient to find at the first try (there would actually be little space to add two or more on each headset), all you have to do is memorize the various types of touches to control music and phone calls.
How to pair them with your smartphone
To pair them for for the first time to your devices, simply activate Bluetooth on the latter, then press and hold the On / Off button for more than five seconds on one of the two earphones until the small internal LED begins to flash alternately red and blue , confirming the correct activation of the Pairing mode. At this point, as soon as the name of the headset appears in the list of nearby Bluetooth devices (TWS109L for the left, TWS109R if you perform the first pairing starting from the right headset) just select it and wait a few moments to complete the operation. Then it will be necessary to turn on the other earphone (press and hold the On / Off button for two seconds) and, in a few seconds, it will be correctly connected to the twin. on your smartphone and turn on both earphones (or just one if you want to use the system in Mono mode).
Field test
The audio quality is overall very good. The volume at 100% is not very high, but the soundproofing guaranteed by the in-ear rubbers is more than enough to ensure an excellent three-dimensionality of the sound, considerably reducing the surrounding noises. The general audio is slightly dark when compared to the same track with earphones such as the simpler Apple EarPods while the low frequencies are well highlighted.
Also good audio quality in call and very comfortable controls touch, which allow you to control music and phone calls from both the left and right headphones.
Conclusions
The Avantree TWS109 earphones are not for everyone. If the goal is to listen to music on the sofa without the clutter of cables, it is good to go elsewhere because the quality is certainly not comparable to that of headphones that must focus mainly on audio reproduction as faithful as possible. They are earphones designed for those who train in the gym – they are IPX5 certified so they also resist sweat – but they are also good outdoors and their main goal is to involve the user with the music and give him the charge by pushing more on the low frequencies. .
This is their job and they do it very well. Found the correct in-ear rubber, they fit like a glove and the headband shape makes them stable beyond imagination. The autonomy is not the best (about three hours of continuous listening to music) and the carrying case does not recharge them, so remember to recharge them at the end of each workout.

True Wireless earphones for sports by Avantree do not cost much: on Amazon you can find them for sale at 59.99 euros including shipping, a slightly lower figure than competing solutions that sometimes suffer in stability in the ears and soundproofing.
