BigBlue B410, the LED emergency lamp with suction cup

Home Reviews ,,,,, BigBlue B410 is a curious accessory that our editorial team recently tried. It is a waterproof LED emergency lamp with a rechargeable battery also through the built-in solar panel. It attaches to smooth surfaces using suction cups or can be hung using the attached hook and thanks to the different flashing modes it can also work as a warning light on the road or as an SOS in the mountains. Why talk about it on Macitynet? It also has a USB socket capable of charging even a tablet.

How it's made

The battery has the shape of a parallelepiped slightly rounded at the edges. It measures 12.8 x 6.8 x 6.8 centimeters and weighs 440 grams, so it has an important size especially if you decide to take it with you during an excursion. The whole case is made of good quality satin-finish rigid plastic: on one side there is the panel, white in color, with 6 rows of 3 LEDs (for a total of 18 LEDs), in the adjacent one the panel is recessed solar for recharging the internal battery while in each of the remaining two there are 18 small suction cups that allow to stabilize it firmly to a smooth surface, possibly also supporting its weight when it is fixed in vertical panels such as doors and windows.

At the base there is the On / Off button, the LEDs to know the amount of residual energy and the microUSB and USB inputs, well protected by a rubber cap, respectively useful for recharging the battery or a device connected via a special cable. On the opposite side there is a metal handle that facilitates transport and / or accommodation on the belt or carabiner of a backpack.

How does it work

To turn it on, simply hold down the On / Off button for two seconds: all 18 LEDs will turn on at the same time, emitting a strong white light capable of sufficiently illuminating even a medium-sized room, or an entire car parked in an area of stop in complete darkness and at a distance of 10 meters from the lamp.

With a short press of the power button you switch from continuous light mode to emergency mode which basically divides the LED panel into two halves and makes them flash alternately white and orange: this is an interesting function useful for example in in the event of an emergency on the roadside, to increase visibility and signal your position to other drivers on the road during – for example – changing a tire.

Pressing the On button again activates the third and last mode, which will basically flash the SOS message in morse code with white light.

How is it going

According to our tests, the autonomy is very good: in continuous white light, the lamp emits light for over 4 consecutive hours, gradually decreasing the power until it goes out in the next hour. The recharging of the internal battery, from 10,600 mAh, is quite fast, especially if you use a 2A charger: with the latter the energy is completely restored (from 0% to 100%) in about 6 hours.

The USB output socket delivers up to 2A, therefore sufficient to recharge even a tablet at the right power.

Conclusions

It is not the emergency battery to always keep in your pocket nor the most comfortable lantern we have tried, but the strong lighting power, the built-in solar panel, the waterproofness, the suction cups, the handle, the three different lighting modes and the USB output socket are very interesting features especially in emergency situations, making it a tool to always keep in the car or at home and to be pulled out when needed, using it occasionally even during an excursion to illuminate the inside of the tent and recharge it the internal battery during the following day by simply exploiting solar energy.
