BT600 and MONO, Bluetooth and wired earphones from Puro

Home iPhonia iPhone Accessories ,,,,, Those who spend a lot of time on the phone every day may be looking for a headset to better manage communications. In recent weeks, Cyber Layman has tested two Puro solutions, one with wire (MONO) and the other via Bluetooth (BT600), evaluating all the advantages and limitations of each solution.

MONO

Take the Apple headphones of the previous generation to the EarPods and virtually cut one: here is Puro's MONO headset. The style of the headset is in fact almost similar, with a large metal mesh cover to protect the driver. It is completely black, therefore more “invisible” and long enough to allow us to safely keep the phone even in the low pocket of the Bermuda shorts and have ample freedom of movement.

It connects to any phone via 3.5mm jack plug and also works with iPhone 7 if accompanied by Apple's Lightning adapter. Along the wire there is a button that allows you to recall Siri if held down for a few seconds, or to accept, hang up or reject a call with a single click. It is also possible to listen to music and skip between songs with double and triple clicks, respectively to skip to the next song or go back to the previous one.

The audio quality is very good, the microphone works very well even in noisy environments and is also quite comfortable to wear even if for those with large ears like ours it could slip off more easily. There is no pliers to be able to lock the cable at the top of the collar of a shirt, so the only solution is to buy a grommet separately to increase the stability of the headset in the ear. Compared to a pair of classic headphones, however, the annoyance of the second headset is eliminated, which here, not being present, will not dangle during use of the headset.

BT600

Not very different from the Bluetooth earphones on the market from an aesthetic point of view, BT600 is rather small (5.2 x 1.3 x 0.9 cm) and light (weighs just 8 grams), with a body entirely in black satin plastic except for the profile metallic that shines in the sunlight and recalls the aesthetics of the frame of the iPhone 4/5.

In this case the stability in the ear is excellent both because the earphone is accompanied by a rubber insert with incorporated fin (in the package there are two more spare parts), and because it is eventually possible to enhance it with a transparent plastic headband ( in the box there are two) which blocks it more effectively around the outer edge of the ear. It is practically impossible to drop it, even if you shake your head sharply.

A single button allows you to answer, reject or hang up a phone call with a click. When it is in Standby, however, it allows you to recall Siri: today this function is really very useful because by leaving the phone in your trouser pocket we will be able to have constant and direct contact with the Apple voice assistant not only to call the numbers in the phonebook but also for obtain any other information, from the GPS navigation directions to the weather information or to the reading (and subsequent dictation of the response) of SMS and emails.

There are also two buttons to adjust the volume and a microUSB socket on the back to recharge the internal battery, which takes about 2 hours for 3 hours of talk time, just over 2 if you “play” with Siri between calls. and the other (over 200 hours of standby time). It can also be connected to two devices at the same time and ensures a good reduction of background noise especially for the interlocutor, who will always receive our voice “loud and clear”.

Puro BT600

Conclusions

Puro's earphones are two good alternatives that make the frequent phone calls you receive throughout the day more comfortable, especially for those who work on the phone.

The BT600 is certainly more comfortable from this point of view because it does not require the user to keep the telephone at close range: if you are in the office, for example, you can also leave it near the window to improve signal reception in those rooms where there is little field, or in the car you can leave it in the backpack closed in the trunk, but be able to easily manage all the phone calls. In this case, with iOS 10, you can evaluate the idea of activating the “Read caller name” option in Settings> Telephone: we have done it and it is the best combination to always know in advance who is calling us without having to look the phone screen. The only limit is in the battery: 2 hours are enough for the most common uses while they could become few for those who spend a lot of time on the phone during the day.

Puro BT600

Mono, on the other hand, eliminates the battery limitation since it connects to the phone via cable: however, it cannot be connected to two phones at the same time and forces the user to keep it in his pocket or in any case close enough. It is therefore very convenient when you have a fixed location, where the limit of the cable will be less evident, and in long phone calls it proves to be really effective because we will not be forced to keep our ear glued to the phone.

Retail price

Puro's earphones are both for sale on Amazon. BT600 costs 29.99 euros. Mono costs € 8.24.
