What then is the usefulness of a Swiss army knife we certainly do not explain here, more or less we have all had one: here, Budi Multi-functional cable does the same things, offers a multi-connector cable that is always ready, houses the SIM cards and memory, acts as an emergency card reader and, if desired, holds the iPhone while traveling to enjoy the latest Netflix series on the train.
But the most interesting thing is that it does it in a compact size of 132x15x15 millimeters, which means that it certainly fits in the pocket of the bag or backpack, in jeans but also (and above all) in the now widespread cable organizer pouches as if it were a connector or a small screwdriver.
A mine of solutions
The shape, as you can see from the images, is that of a slightly higher lighter, in our case of integral black color if only for the chromed edges.
The external coating is in metal, while the entire internal part, which can be extracted almost completely with a simple pressure on one of the vertices, is in plastic.
Inside there are six slots for MicroSD plus two for nanoSIM, a USB-C cable about 18 centimeters long (connectors included) and three adapters that, starting from a USB-C open respectively to a USB-A, Lightning and MicroUSB.
Basically, with this in your backpack, you can connect a MacBook Pro to any existing local device, including Thunderbolt ones (although in this case the speed will be lower).
The little one does not act as a portable battery (a pity though) but is able to help you for many tasks: the writer has several cables in his bag, for all needs, but every time you work outdoors, there is always a cable that missing, either because we forgot it or because we have it but we need two: here is Budi Multi-functional Cable is the solution that is convenient, and is ready in an instant.
Other surprises
But the utility doesn't end with just the use of a cable holder and MicroSD port. Using the cable supplied with the small USB-C connector at the top, and inserting one of the MicroSD into the appropriate slot next to the connector, the Budi Multi-functional Cable transforms into a card reader. Of course, we are talking about an economical solution and to be used when necessary, because the speed is certainly not the best.
From our tests, carried out with a SanDisk Ultra card microSDXC UHS-I card, the reading speed is about 19 MB / S both in reading and in writing, a value that is certainly low when compared to a more professional HUB such as the Caldigit SOHO. Dock that with the same card reaches values of 34 MB / S in writing and even 117 MB / S in reading.
Finally, a last gem to underline: on the opposite side to the opening, by pulling with the fingernail you can widen a small part, useful for supporting a smartphone if necessary (which we used a lot on the train).
In our case, the Budi Multi-functional Cable supported an iPhone 13 Pro complete with a cover, we were still at the limit.
The speed is not its strong point, but it is to be considered an emergency situation, better to have it than not to have it
Considerations
Considering the cost, and the offers at which it is often offered, a product like the Budi Cavo Multi-functional should not be missing in any bag, because its usefulness will become evident at the first opportunity.
Even with a whole series of compromises, an accessory like this seems fantastic and really useful to us, like a Swiss army knife to always have, considering that it has also passed the ceckin in a couple of airports, as well as usefulness, it has even less. problems of a pocket knife in the bag for those who travel often by plane.
