But what happened to the register of mobile phone opposition?

On January 21, the Council of Ministers approved a reform to the Public register of oppositions , which should also allow mobile numbers to be registered to block telemarketing.

However, despite almost two months have passed since approval and despite the fact that the new register is expected to enter into force by July, the Decree has not yet been published in the Official Gazette and, of as a result, the new law has not yet entered into force.

There is no clear information on the reasons for the delay and, in this regard, the deputy Simone Baldelli, president of the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry on Consumer and User Protection, presented a parliamentary question to the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and to the Minister of Economic Development, Giancarlo Giorgetti.

Baldelli's statement below:

What is the cause of the delay in the publication of the new regulation and what initiatives the Government has initiated or intends to initiate in order to implement the various requirements envisaged as soon as possible, from public consultation of operators to definition of the communication campaign to the public, to make up for lost time and make the new rules operational by 31 July 2022
