After a soft-launch at the end of 2020, WhatsApp finally made it: all its apps for desktop systems (macOS and Windows) now support calls and video calls , both with end-to encryption -end .
At the moment the function is only available for direct calls to a single contact, but will be extended to groups in the near future. We also clarify that WhatsApp web , or the browser version, is not supported , and based on what is stated in TechCrunch , it looks like it won't be soon.
You can set the (video) call window so that it always remains in the foreground , change its orientation, and of course enable / disable the video or microphone at any time. There is also a small support page in Italian, in case you have any doubts, but it's really all very intuitive.
The only thing you have to do is then download the WhatsApp desktop app and start calling your friends. Obviously it is possible to answer both from PC and smartphone, and vice versa.
Sometimes you just need a little more space. Secure and reliable, end-to-end encrypted voice and video calls are now available on our desktop app. Download now: https://t.co/JCc3rUunoU pic.twitter.com/PgCl76Mn7U
