Home Hi-Tech Audio / Video / TV / Streaming ,,,,, Inspired by a Japanese Zen garden, the Creative team has decided to launch Creative Pebble on the market, the elegant, really cheap desktop speakers, which are powered through the USB port of your PC or desktop, to always keep your desk tidy. Here's what we think after testing them.
Aesthetically original, they almost look like river stones, or rather, those pebbles found in Zen gardens. It is from these that the team responsible for the project was inspired to create the Pebble, 2.0 speakers designed for the desktop experience, or notebook, but also interesting for a third use, which we will reveal to you in the course of the review. The dimensions are absolutely contained, so that the speakers will easily find space above any desk, even the smallest ones. Furthermore. the only cable present, provides both jack and full size USB input for the power supply, so that a third cable to connect to the mains will not be necessary.
Although inexpensive, these speakers do not compromise on quality: each of the two speakers is equipped with a 2-inch full range driver, installed at a 45 degree angle at the front, while a passive radiator placed on the rear is able to emphasize the diffuser more. of sound throughout the room, giving that feeling of fullness that is not expected from such a peripheral. Obviously, this is not an audiophile device, but Creative Pebble has a more than commendable quality for the price range and type of product.
And in fact, the sound offered by Pebble is surprisingly rich, with immersive audio. USB 2.0 powered speakers do not seem to suffer from the lack of a direct wall power supply, and provide clear and crisp sound, even at higher volumes, with particularly present bass, although certainly not too pronounced compared to other peripherals. .
Whatever the type of music we listened to, we were able to perceive a fairly deep audio and with some details that we did not expect. The volume is not among the highest ever appreciated, but it is high for peripherals of this type. What is surprising, however, is the control these small speakers have: even at maximum volume, with particular songs like “Bass can You Hear Me?”, The resulting distortion is minimal; with other types of music, more traditional, even at maximum volume you will not be able to make the two speakers fall out, which control the sound in an absolutely satisfactory way, without any distortion.
After testing the creative speakers alongside a Macbook, we decided to place them behind a Smart TV. Nowadays there are many televisions that, in order to optimize the frames as much as possible, tend to neglect the audio department. Creative speakers will certainly not be the solution to the problem, but even in this use they were a pleasant surprise. And in fact, not only does the Creative peripheral have good sound quality when it comes to playing music, but also speech, so the voice element is absolutely clear and crystal clear. Moreover, the fact that it is a peripheral that is self-powered from USB, allows you to turn the speakers on and off, simply by turning the TV on and off.
Conclusions
The Creative Pebbles cost only 24.99 euros and for the price range they offer optimal quality. They are certainly not audiophile peripherals, but on the desk, next to a Macbook and behind a TV, they are a recommended choice, and absolutely advisable. The sound is clean and always kept under control, the aesthetics are elegant, the price is the right one.
On the manufacturer's website they can be purchased for 24.99 euros, in the different black / gold or white / gold color.
