When browsing the web , one of the first things to check is security . For this very reason, Google is constantly releasing Chrome updates so that users are protected from malicious websites. However, it happens that some security flaws remain present, and it is for this reason that one of the most important things is to check that you always have the latest version of your browser installed .
Google recently released Chrome 91.0.4472.164 to Android and desktop devices, correcting a number of security flaws. One of them, labeled CVE-2021-30563 , is a zero-day exploit that hackers are already exploiting. While the company isn't disclosing details on how the exploit works, one tracker reports that zero-day exploits a bug in Chrome's V8 JavaScript engine. A remote attacker could execute arbitrary code by tricking users into visiting a malicious website and triggering a type confusion error within V8. If such an attack were unfortunately successful, it could cause complete compromise of a system .
As this vulnerability is ingrained in the V8 Javascript engine, the security exploit affects all Chromium based browsers such as Chrome, Brave , Microsoft Edge , and others. The only thing to do is to check that you have installed the latest available version of these browsers, both in the desktop and mobile app , and eventually update them.
