How it is made
The back of the case, in our case of white color (there is also the black version), is in TPU quite flexible. The second half of the case (in gray) is instead made of soft silicone , which flexes more near the doors and buttons which, in the case of Volume and Standby, are fully protected. In addition to the opening dedicated to the Lightning socket, microphone, speaker, Mute button and rear camera, we find a hole on the back that lets the iPhone's Apple logo breathe, a purely stylistic choice that does not actually offer any advantage.
The case is quite light (34 grams), it also partially protects the phone display thanks to a slight thickness near the frame and in the overall dimensions it is a middle ground between the most common cases and the most minimal shockproof models. The plot characterized by a dense series of raised dots visible at the edges that ensures a excellent grip of the phone which, due to the plastic that makes up most of the cover, is appreciable , it would be rather slippery.
The main peculiarity of the case is on the back: here in fact there is a circular plate (diameter 3.6mm, thickness 3mm) in metal accompanied by a U hook which can be raised 90 degrees and rotated 360 degrees – in 30 degree steps – in both directions.
The hook
This system basically allows you to keep the phone tilted both in a horizontal position (inclination of 50 degrees with respect to the plane), for example, useful for watching a movie, and vertically (25 degrees) for video calls, web browsing and so on.
The hook also has a sufficiently wide opening (3.5 x 2.8 cm) to make room for the finger of one hand: this, together with the possibility of orienting it even diagonally, allows it to be used while using the phone with one hand and to avoid so it can slip for a distraction.
The metal plate
The case is also particularly useful in the car, especially if you use one of the many magnetic supports to hook it to the dashboard, the windshield or the ventilation outlet (as they are designed, some can also be used in the kitchen, bathroom and various house rooms).
The circular plate is in fact made of metal and works perfectly with the magnets of the various supports, thus avoiding having to fix the respective plates on the back of the cases or between the latter and the smartphone to ensure compatibility with this coupling system. In fact it is a much cleaner solution.
How is it going
Hook and plate functionality aside, the cover is very handy and the small “hump” on the back does not clutter at all even if you put the phone in your trouser pocket. The only difference compared to a case with a flat back is noticeable when you place the phone on a support surface, whether it is the desk or the bedside table. In this case the phone will remain raised by a few millimeters in all four corners and with smooth surfaces there is a risk that the metal plate can scratch them in the long run, without forgetting that with a tap it is easier to rotate and slide the phone away. along the shelf.
Conclusions
The case protects the smartphone much more than other more common ones especially at the edges, where it appears very robust. The strong point is obviously in the metal plate with hook on the back, which acts as a handle and tripod.
The price is really attractive and if you use magnetic media in your home, car or office, it can be worth buying, especially if during the day you happen to feel the need for a system to keep the phone tilted in multiple positions. . Do not forget that the hook is also excellent from the point of view of the grip and it is also possible to use it to temporarily attach a carabiner and hang the phone around the neck or to the belt of the trousers .
