This is how we present Dodocool DH01WEU, a small accessory that we have tried in the last few weeks and which is born mainly as a bell for the entrance of your home but, due to its ease of connection and cost-effectiveness in use, it can actually be exploit also in completely different fields.
How it is done
The cheapest kit consists of a transmitter and a receiver (it is also sold in a bundle with two receivers). The transmitter is practically a big button with a diameter of 6.6 cm (thickness 1.6 cm) that can be fixed to the wall by means of the two plugs and the plate with 3M adhesive included in the package, on any flat surface using the layer adhesive – always of the 3M type – already anchored on the back, or if you do not remove the protective film of the latter, you can also move it from one side to the other or keep it in your pocket during the entire use of the doorbell. It is certified IPX7 , therefore completely weatherproof (7 stands for enclosure protected against the effects of immersion for 30 minutes at a depth of 1 meter). survive downpours and thunderstorms outside the front door.
The receiver, with the same diameter as the button, offers a Italian plug that protrudes enough, so that it can be easily connected even in the Schuko sockets (it just protrudes 3.6 cm when inserted into the socket). On the back there is also the grill for the built-in speaker while along the edge two buttons respectively allow to adjust the volume and customize the ringtone.
White in color, both are made of smooth plastic on the front face and satin at the edges and on the back. The kit can be expanded
Each kit is already programmed so that the receiver only responds to the click of the relative transmitter, however, by purchasing more than one, all the receivers can be programmed to respond to one or more buttons.
The process is very simple: first of all you will have to insert the various receivers to be programmed into the electrical sockets (in this case it may be convenient to use an electric power strip), then press and hold for about three seconds one of the two buttons recessed in each receiver: a Notification LED will start flashing, a sign that pairing mode has been activated. At that point, all you have to do is press the transmitter button and that's it.
If you want to restore the initial pairing, you will have to keep any button on the receiver pressed for more than 10 seconds.
How much it consumes
One of the strengths of this system is that does not require any power supply . In fact, there are no batteries to recharge or replace inside the button which, instead, transforms the mechanical energy of the click into the little electricity it needs to send the impulse to the receiver.
Instead, the receiver needs power (very little, less than 1W per click) which, therefore, must necessarily be plugged into an electrical socket.
Volume and Melodies
Peculiarity of this bell, we said, is the presence of 38 melodies, ranging from the classic “ Din Don ” to short pieces of songs such as “ For Elisa di Beethoven “and even longer melodies, around 5-10 seconds, such as the” Lullaby “,” Happy Birthday “or” Jingle Bells “, perfect for temporarily giving a Christmas touch to your doorbell. home.
From this point of view it should be borne in mind that in the event of an electrical fault or absence – even if only temporary – of electricity, the personalization of the doorbell will be lost and the main melody (the most common Din Don) will be restored to volume 3. For as regards the latter, there are four levels and at maximum volume the receiver transmits the melody at 105 decibels , therefore loud enough to be heard even from adjacent rooms .
How is it going
The manufacturer declares a range in communication between transmitters and receivers equal to 80 meters without interference or 30 meters with curtains and walls to separate them. We made several tests by moving to the various rooms of the house without the system ever missing a beat; then, with the help of a friend, we went down to the garden and managed to ring the bell even by pressing the button from inside our car, about 50 meters away from the receiver.
Various possibility of use
This system can certainly replace the classic house doorbell with the advantage of being able to move the receiver wherever you prefer or to install more than one in different rooms, thus ensuring a better signal reception even in large homes or if you are in one of the most remote rooms.
The moment we saw it for the first time, we immediately understood that it could, however, find space in much wider contexts. In our case, for example, we use it to allow our grandmother to call the caregiver in times of need and without having to scream. In this sense, until today we have used a pair of walkie talkies but on the one hand the caregiver was forced to always carry hers with her with the risk of sometimes forgetting it in some room, on the other “the problem” was our grandmother. who is allergic to any form of technology and electronic device. The button, on the other hand, is much more immediate, it can always be kept in the pocket of the dressing gown and the receivers, precisely because more than one can be installed, must never be moved from one side to the other.
Just as demonstrated by our tests that have come up to the car in the driveway , it could also be used as a second bell with the rule that its sound the implicit message will be “I just got back from the supermarket, help me carry the shopping bags home”.
