HomeHouseGreenSmart A global view We have tried for over a month one of the many robot vacuum cleaner models of the Xiaomi family this time under the dreame brand. A model that stands out from the tide of similar products for two peculiarities: the remarkable suction power and the ability to analyze 3D of the surrounding environment that allows you to optimize the cleaning paths and avoid any fixed or mobile obstacle that populates your home. and your office.
The features are completed by the built-in floor washing option and the ability to communicate verbally with the user in perfect Italian.
Packaging and Design
Here, rather than describing the object in words, we leave space for images and captions that show all the details of the unboxing and the robot vacuum cleaner
The white look packaging Featured features and mapping capability Lidar navigation and the ability to avoid obstacles in 3D with the two main sensors Here the enormous suction power of the robot is highlighted Division into rooms and zones for an almost punctual cleaning control inside The cover of the robot appears to be the only (light) plastic element of a certain size. Installation and interface
The management of the robot takes place through the Mi Home application which allows integration and combination with other peripherals of the company (we see it in the following chapter) and also the numerous other robots of the Xiaomi family. Below you can see the whole procedure and scrolling through the gallery you will find how simple it is to include the robot in your home network.
The Xiaomi application to which we had already connected the fan Let's add a new one device And we choose among the many of Xiami and related brands Here we find the directions for our Dreame Here the home network and that of the robot Here we see how the robot begins to explore the house: notice the rays to the left: even if he works in a corner he can see the rest of the room These are the manual control settings Notifications allow us to evaluate any hitches even when the application is closed Here's the problem … here it got stuck under a too low sofa
In use
We have used Dreame L10Pro for more than a month in an apartment of about 160 square meters which at the moment is not fully furnished and has “in storage” packs just to test it with very difficult dirt that includes some very dusty and small processes mud particles brought from outside. In addition to this, the presence of a good-sized carpet on which a dog lay allowed also to evaluate the management of an animal in the house.
The first thing to note is that in the recognition phase of the environment to be cleaned the Dreame L10 Pro does not miss a beat: never once have we seen it hit the leg of a chair or get caught with a cable left in a corner of the room: the LiDAR and 3D obstacle detection work flawlessly and the map drawn on the smartphone shows the perfect footprint of chairs, armchairs and obstacles with an update rate that is also fun to observe.
Also noteworthy is the dosage of the suction power that allows you to manage the right balance between the need for cleaning and the noise produced: in the full power mode that we recall, a 4000pa suction power unfolds the noise produced is heard in the adjoining room but the L10 Pro sucked without insect problems, mud particles and perfectly cleaned the whole floor. If, on the other hand, we want to do a maintenance cleaning we can settle for a less powerful and quieter mode, perhaps using the cleaning by areas to manage carpets that are easy to get dirty or clogged with hair.
The management of multi-storey maps is also very convenient even if we initially got lost in the access menu to the various functions. After two or three attempts (without reading the manual) we were able to divide and “baptize” all the rooms and then operate with criteria due to use and the need for daily or weekly cleaning. The charging station is not bulky and, once correctly positioned, does not cause particular stability problems.
The other factor that is appreciated is the very short time that the robot takes to move to the selected areas or to reach the room you want to clean. This is also evidenced by the cleaning routes that we have deliberately made more difficult by moving chairs and armchairs in the various tests or by finding small carpets along the way.
The Mi Home application is very convenient and efficient to use and it is also possible to interact with other peripherals of the company that would perhaps make cleaning more difficult such as a fan on which would increase the diffusion of dust in the house during cleaning. or an air purifier that would reveal an excess of dust as the robot moves on the floor.
The availability of the Italian language in the dialogues is also a significant plus since the robot communicates its status with the user and is also able to be found in the home if it is not directly visible.
The other interesting feature is the complete diagnostic management that allows you to have a complete look at the consumption of the various parts and the need to clean or replace them. With the first very heavy cleaning we had filled the tank and clogged the filter and Dreame's notification system reported it to us both in the iPhone home and in detail within the Mi Home application.
Lava as well
We have seen that the LP10 Pro is also able to wash the floor and does so by also dosing the amount of water used. Since a large part of the floor of the house was made of parquet, we measured the cleaning in 3 total areas, two ceramic floors (kitchen and bathroom) with a heavy cleaning and the rest with the minimum amount of water due to the fact that the wood in natural solid oak and without waxing it is certainly not happy to receive large quantities of liquid. The tank proved useful for cleaning an area of about 90 but including the kitchen and bathroom but failed to cover the entire surface of the large apartment.
Considering that thanks to the maps you will avoid washing the floor in the areas covered by carpets, the surface to be treated will be reduced. Since approximately every 100 square meters of coverage requires the intervention of filling the tank and cleaning the cloth, we say that the “mopping” section is certainly a plus of the device to be used in presence and in any case with a “human” intervention at least in the phase initial. For anyone who has a thing with a wooden floor it will definitely not be a problem. For those who have a ceramic floor to always keep very shiny, it is better to turn to a dedicated product or to the classic rag and mop after a thorough cleaning with LP10 Pro.
Conclusions
Very high suction power, almost infallible vision of the environment that prevents the robot from getting stuck or entangled in cables and carpets, excellent communication with the user and an app that allows you to immediately interact with other Xiaomi devices make this Dreame LP10 Pro a serious one pretender to the role of smart vacuum cleaner with the best value for money on the market considering above all the price range to which it is aimed, that of 300-400 euros presided over by a good number of historical brands that however do not have this type of smart features.
The only factor that could play against it could be that of spare parts which for the best known names are very easy to find but the growth of the Xiaomi brand also in our country and the average type of customer of this robot, more used to buying online. help extend the life of the product over the years. The white version is preferable which, compared to the glossy black, shows less dust than
