DuckDuckGo also wants to protect our emails: Email Protection service announced

DuckDuckGo is a search engine mainly focused on privacy : the information remains private and nothing is saved on the company's servers. Recently, however, emails will also be able to be safer thanks to the Email Protection service.

In fact, even emails can contain trackers : the company estimates that 70% of these may contain technologies to extrapolate when an email has been opened , the device from which it was read and even where you are: Email Protection aims to delete these trackers. It will in fact be possible to create a free address @ duck.com : all messages sent to this address will be deprived of tracker and forward to main mailbox . DuckDuckGo will not save any information about the email, but you can still see which trackers have been removed from the original message.

There will be the possibility to generate private addresses randomly through the app or the appropriate browser extension. At the moment the service is in beta and to use it it is necessary to subscribe to a waiting list . To do this just:

  1. Download the DuckDuckGo app for iOS or Android
  2. Go to Settings> Beta functions> Email Protection
  3. Click on the appropriate item
