Home Reviews ,,,,,In these days we tried Eachine E56, the second drone of the homonymous brand received in the editorial office (our first – and not too pleasant – experience was a few weeks ago with Eachine E52) which guaranteed us a much better user experience of the previous one.
First of all, the stability in the air is better and the construction, although still economical, makes it more resistant to possible falls. But the real strength is the remote control, which allows you to control the flight with simple inclinations of the same, greatly facilitating safe driving even in the most confined spaces.
The package
That we are dealing with a better product can be said already from the package, which includes a practical rigid bag to carry the drone and accessories. Inside we find, precisely, the drone, the remote control (powered by two AAA batteries not included in the package), the battery, the charging cable, a screwdriver, four propellers and as many spare feet.
As did
The drone measures 14.5 x 6.7 x 3 centimeters and weighs only 85 grams. It is made entirely of plastic, with the four propellers hidden in the body to protect them during transport and improve their pocket size. Compared to its younger brother, the arms are more robust and lock better when extraction is complete (confirmed by a “clack” of the hinges). Battery management is also better, which locks firmly to the slot and is accompanied by a button that ensures correct release for recharging.
The front camera can be tilted 90 degrees on the vertical axis, switching from direct view to fully downward view. Unfortunately it cannot be adjusted during the flight so it is necessary to move it to the desired position before take-off. Also excellent is the presence of some rear (red) and front (white) LEDs that improve visibility even at night and facilitate recognition of the camera position.
The remote control (and the app)
As anticipated, the most interesting novelty lies in the remote control, not only smaller and more manageable, but also easier to use. It is held with one hand and the main movements “forward, backward, right and left” are managed through slight inclinations: with the built-in joypad you can control the flight height and rotate the drone for any changes in the direction of the shot.
There is also a handy button that immediately stops the motors, a lifesaver that more than once has allowed us to avoid ruinous collisions with some trees after losing control (but more on this later).
It is also possible to control the flight via drone via the Eachine Fly app, available for free for iOS and Android, which becomes essential when you want to record videos with the built-in camera: the latter will in fact end up directly in the phone roll and Unfortunately, it is not possible to connect the smartphone at the same time for videos and the remote control for controlling the drone, which in our opinion takes place in a more practical and safe way through the latter.
How is it going
Controlling the drone with the remote control is truly a pleasure. The easiest controls in guaranteeing mastery in a few minutes of flight: therefore, considering that the autonomy is just over 6 minutes, only one session is enough to have full control of the drone and to be able to launch more targeted flights even in tight spaces. , like the interior of an apartment (a place that we do not recommend for the very first flight).
The drone maintains its flying position very well up to 4–5 meters above the ground, while at higher altitudes the wind can become a dangerous enemy. In one of our tests we took it to about 15–20 meters high and we practically lost control of it, unable to withstand the force of the wind. In this case, as we mentioned earlier, the immediate stop button of the motors saved us from losing the drone, although it is advisable to rely on this emergency maneuver only if you are sure that it can fall on a lawn. In fact, in one of our makeshift landings it ended up on a sidewalk, showing a slightly chipped corner of the body.
Video shooting
The video quality of the built-in camera is certainly not up to the level of the latest generation smartphones, but it is more than enough to ensure good visibility from the drone's point of view, which takes place in real time directly on the smartphone screen from which it is controlled. .
Unfortunately, the lack of a stabilization system means that at every slight inclination of the drone to adjust its position the shot dances conspicuously, with an effect certainly not pleasant for the faint of stomach.
For the record, we attach a video example below:
Conclusions
Also in this case we are faced with a toy drone, interesting for those who want to experience this new product category with a certainly low cost. It is among the best that we have had the opportunity to try in the quality / price ratio especially as regards the ease with which you can control the flight, thanks to the particular remote control supplied.
Price to the public
Eachine E56 costs 62.99 euros.
