Home Reviews ,,,,, It does not have Bluetooth but it is technological enough to be able to talk about it on our pages: Vava's electric kettle is among the best answers to tea or herbal tea prepared in the home of those who have the minutes counted or those who find the Holy Grail of rest in the five minutes that are obtained by moving the hands of the alarm clock thanks to this indispensable accessory for the kitchen. It is the ideal tool to forget to follow the classic kettle on the stove and has the ability to prepare a hot drink for the whole family and to respond to the most precise needs of tea lovers.
As did
Let's start with the structure first: the body of the kettle is mainly made of stainless steel, with a large handle in resistant polycarbonate and is thermally insulated. On the upper edge of the latter there is a push-button panel that allows you to adjust the water temperature on six different levels, each specific for a different type of tea, and to maintain the temperature at the pre-set level for 30 minutes from its achievement. .
To load the water inside the kettle, simply press the Push button above the latter: with a click, the lid will open, hermetically closed by a pressure system supported by a thick rubber sheath. In our opinion, the lid is a bit too small, not to fill the kettle with water but rather to be able to dry it inside with a cloth, which is necessary especially if it will be an appliance that will not be used every day.
The spout is very wide and at first glance it gives the impression of not being able to work as you hope, in reality a sort of polycarbonate grate composed of several holes recessed right at the outlet is designed to route the water creating a soft and rather thin, perfect for pouring water correctly even in a small cup and without even a drop escaping.
The capacity is 1.7 liters, more than enough to fill 6-8 teacups. To find out how much water has been inserted into the kettle, just place it on a flat surface and read the level from the graduated scale embedded in a transparent panel on the back, near the handle.
How does it work
Talking about operation can be almost trivial, as it is sufficient to connect the appropriate base to the electrical socket (use a 1 meter long cable with Schuko plug), place the kettle on top of it making the pin match up with the relative opening. Inside the kettle, a blue LED light will turn on which will fully illuminate the graduated scale, a pleasant visual effect that gives a good idea of the fact that the system is up and running.
At this point, all that remains is to set the desired water temperature by pressing the (+) and (-) buttons and pressing the start button, optionally also activating the Keep warm to keep the set temperature constant for half an hour. An acoustic signal will confirm the start of heating, which will take place silently unless you opt for 100 degrees: in that case the water at temperature will boil and its relative bubbling will be well audible.
How is it going
The first surprising thing is how quickly the water reaches the preset temperature. We made various tests selecting the highest of 100 ° C: filling it completely, therefore with 1.7 liters of water, the liquid reaches the temperature in just under five minutes. In another test, with 0.75 liters of water (the equivalent of three cups of tea) the maximum temperature was reached in just over a minute, with times therefore practically four or five times lower than those guaranteed by the old kettle used on the stove.
Speed aside, the kettle is also very easy to use. The handle is comfortable, offers an excellent grip and getting burned is practically impossible: being thermally insulated, even with water at 100 ° C it will be possible to easily unhook it from the base without risking burns. And if the kettle is too heavy (a slender friend of ours actually had difficulty handling it with the kettle full of water, consider that empty it weighs 1.1 kg), just place a second hand on the kettle support surface: being completely covered in plastic, it will in fact be barely warm to the touch even when the water inside will touch the boiling temperature. What you must avoid touching is the external surface in stainless steel, the only part that completely reflects the heat of the water contained in the kettle.
It has also proved essential to speed up the evenings in the company of tea. In fact, we usually offer our guests different types of tea, ranging from classic black to green, white tea to various types of Oolong, with various herbal teas even for those who cannot or do not want to take theine. Anyone who knows a bit knows that every infusion should be immersed in water at the right temperature and for a defined time. With a common kettle you simply have to arm yourself with an ad hoc thermometer, or alternatively you can opt for one of those lasers that work remotely (without direct contact with water), starting from a temperature of 100 ° C for those who for example, he chooses black tea and gradually waits for the water to cool down to serve those who choose a different infusion.
With the Vava kettle, the procedure will be reversed but much faster: just place the base in the center of the table, then set the temperature for the “coldest” infusion (for example, for white tea, the water for the infusion should have a temperature of 85 ° C) and wait for the temperature to be reached, then serve the relevant guests. Then reposition the kettle and increase the temperature in the next step: the wait will be a few tens of seconds for each temperature, thus allowing more people to sip different infusions at about the same time.
Last but not least, the safety function that practically blocks the ignition when the water level is not sufficient: in this way the kettle cannot overheat and consequently damage the internal components.
Conclusions
Those who switch from a common kettle to be used on the stove to an electric one certainly benefit from a series of advantages ranging from ease of use to speed, really important if tea is part of breakfast and you are always in a hurry: in fact it will be enough. prepare the kettle the night before and turn it on when you wake up, perhaps by activating the Keep Warm button, thus being able to take advantage of the 2-5 minutes needed to reach the desired temperature for washing or dressing, eliminating the anxiety of the stove, which must instead be constantly checked to avoid to exceed the necessary temperature.
With that of Vava you have on your side the obvious advantage of a product that is not only well built, but also easy to use and very versatile, with a system that allows you to adjust the temperature at multiple levels and capable of serving 6 or more people. at the same time. It has only one flaw: cleaning it is problematic as the upper opening is narrow and it is very difficult to reach into it to dry the walls with a cloth. Furthermore, the graduated scale is built on two different levels and this means that, after use, a series of water droplets are deposited, practically impossible to remove, even leaving the kettle with the lid open for several hours.
