Elecwave EB06 is the best solution to put Bluetooth in car radios with AUX socket that our editorial team has had the opportunity to try in recent years. We say “best” because many other proposals require you to manage wires, while here the wireless system is total.
In fact, the Bluetooth receiver is recharged directly through the charger with cigarette lighter plug to which it is magnetically attached and that can possibly be used to recharge at full power even two devices at the same time. of technology in older car radios.
How it's made
Taken out of the box and picked up, it looks like a common car charger with a cigarette lighter plug. It is made of polycarbonate, apparently very robust and characterized by a dark satin finish that goes well with the gray or black interiors. The contacts are solid and well built and the two USB-A sockets accompanied by the wording “4.8 A” leave no doubt: they can be used to charge up to two devices at full power at the same time.
The head it is more cumbersome than usual but there is a reason: it can in fact be unhooked because in reality this is the Bluetooth receiver that will have to be inserted in the car radio. The 3.5mm audio jack plug is hidden inside a special opening while battery charging is guaranteed by the contact of two metal plates, which remain well attached to the charger thanks to the presence of a strong magnet.
Apparently the receiver is much more robust because, although it is aesthetically identical to the charger, in reality the outer shell is made of brushed aluminum rather cold to the touch.
The front surface is instead made in glossy black polycarbonate. Here there is a single, large button that allows you to turn on the receiver and manage music playback (only for Play and Pause). It is accompanied by a hole for a microphone, which is essential in order to use the system also for hands-free phone calls.

How are you doing
Just plug it into the cigarette lighter socket and start the car to activate the charger and then start charging the receiver. It arrived home completely discharged so the test was postponed after a few days, to give the receiver time to recharge the battery. Charging is complete with a couple of hours, but it only takes a few minutes to use it for more than an hour in a row, so see it this way: the five minutes of waiting during which the passenger compartment is heated in the winter or refreshed with the air conditioning in summer are more than enough to cover the home-work section accompanied by the receiver in question.
As soon as there is a bit of charge available, just hold down the button for a few seconds: it will turn blue and, after a few seconds, it will start flashing in search of a paired device.
The first time you will have to search for the receiver in the list of nearby Bluetooth devices on the smartphone (it is labeled with the initials EB06) while in subsequent uses the pairing will be automatic (as long as you leave the Bluetooth on the smartphone constantly active).
Once the car radio has been set to AUX mode, that's it: from now on all the music playback on the smartphone will be transferred to the car audio system, including system sounds, notification chirps and ringtone.
In the case of an incoming call with music playing, this the last one is interrupted to make room for the phone call. At that point, just press the button to answer.
The audio quality is excellent, as is the acquisition of our voice through the microphone whose distance from our mouth depends very much on the position in which it is located the AUX socket in the passenger compartment. In our case it is located on the front panel and in this position the interlocutor could hear us “Loud and clear”, even when we were traveling with the windows down. The rustle of the wind was barely noticeable.
The central button can also be pressed for about 2 seconds by calling up the voice assistant, Siri for iPhone and Google Assistant for Android. On the latter system, the percentage of residual energy is also indicated in the connection box, thus being able to make an estimate at a glance of the total autonomy.
To turn off the receiver, just keep the button for about 5 seconds, remembering to hook it to the charger to restore energy (or keep it fully charged before the next use).
Conclusions
Elecwave EB06 is, as said initially, the best solution for those who have to bring Bluetooth into car radios equipped with AUX socket. The total absence of wires are the real strength of this system, which is almost invisible and does not create clutter and annoyance of cables that must necessarily be fixed in some way to the dashboard to prevent them from intertwining with the gear lever.
The Bluetooth connection is stable and the overall autonomy is excellent. It is very easy to install, use and recharge. The only flaw is the absence of a controller to skip songs: we will be forced to turn on the smartphone for these and other operations but if we limit ourselves only to pressing Play (perhaps creating an ad hoc playlist according to your tastes) and answer phone calls, then you can't ask for better quality, ease of use and dimensions.
