Home Hi-Tech Android World ,,,,, Elephone is a brand that has been able over time to carve out a slice of attention from users, due to terminals that are particularly interesting, especially from an aesthetic point of view. Many will remember Elephone S7, the terminal that managed to bring a device with a curved screen into the hands of users, somewhat emulating the choices made by Samsung at the time. The company tries again: Elephone A4 Pro seems to wink at Huawei P20 Pro, especially with a colorful back cover.
Aesthetics
Elephone A4 Pro is a device that aims to amaze from an aesthetic point of view. The design, in fact, is based on the latest technological innovations, such as the notch on the front, even if to tell the truth it is really of little use on a device that does not have a 3D front release system. Moreover, below the notch, it seems that the display is badly cut, so much so that the icons on the screen, like the time one, are slightly cut, or in any case too close to the edge of the device.
Beyond this detail, the device is really well built, robust and with beautiful materials to the touch. The most interesting part of the terminal is on the rear: the color we test is called “orchid”, really beautiful and eye-catching.
There is only one camera on the back, with LED flash, similar in shape (but only in shape) to that of the iPhone XS. There is no fingerprint sensor on the back cover: the touch ID, in fact, is positioned on the right side, just below the small circular on / off button, and always under the volume rocker. On the other hand, however, the trolley for the two Nano Sims.
On the bottom, sorry to see the presence of a MicroUSB and not a USB-C. Aesthetically, however, the terminal is really pleasant, also due to its small dimensions of 15.04 x 7.28 x 0.80. The weight, despite its small size, is 189 grams, not a featherweight.
Technical features
The technical data sheet of this Elephone A4 Pro is modest, but not poor. The screen has a 5.85-inch diagonal, with only HD + resolution, while under the hood it mounts a 2.0GHz MT6763 Octa Core processor, which still manages to run the terminal well, also thanks to the 4 GB of RAM.
The built-in memory is 64GB, enough for most applications that will want to install. To close the data sheet the 3000 mAh battery, which as we will say shortly, manages to carry the terminal safely in the evening without too much effort, also thanks to the presence of a non-Full HD display.
The terminal runs well in everyday life, it is quite fluid and fast, even if in the typing of the texts it seems to have some small deficits. You do not have lightning-fast typing, and those used to writing particularly fast, will see a few letters skip from time to time.
The terminal, however, allows you to take advantage of the entire Android ecosystem without particular limitations, although certainly miracles cannot be asked of it by running three-dimensional titles that require large computing power. The installed GPU is the ARM Mali-G71 Mp2 class, which allows you to run titles of the caliber of Angy Birds, Clash Royale, and the like.
The fingerprint reader deserves a little applause. It is certainly not the fastest and safest, it still unlocks the terminal at least 8 times out of 10, and it is well placed and built. It is completely embedded in the right frame, always easily reachable by the thumb when you pick up the device.
Software
The software also deserves special attention. Elephone A4 Pro comes with Android 8.1 from the factory, but offers some really interesting pre-installed themes. For the rest it is practically stock software, where there are few or no customizations.
Another applause, however, must be made to the possibility of completely hiding the virtual buttons on the screen, and to use the gestures to navigate within the interface. It is a control system that has now taken over, starting with the iPhone X, slowly moving into all the top of the Android range.
Even on Elephone A4 Pro they work well and are comfortable, allowing you to take advantage of the entire display for apps, without having the annoyance of the bar dedicated to the function keys.
Display
Beyond the not-too-precise display cutout on the top, the Elephone A4 Pro offers a well-optimized screen in the bezels. The unit is obviously IPS, but offers good brightness and great colors, with sufficient contrast and black level.
It offers a particular aspect ratio of 18.7: 9 with excellent viewing angles, and a tendency of colors to always remain faithful, even when the device is tilted.
Camera
Elephone A4 Pro mounts a sensor for each side: 16.0MP + 8.0MP, respectively, for the rear and the front. The results that can be obtained with the camera of this terminal are a bit fluctuating, at times mediocre. Much depends on the lighting conditions in which you shoot.
In optimal conditions you can get a good image, quite enjoyable, always considering the price range of the terminal, with some interesting details and appropriate colors. Since there is no good lighting, the photos are rather noisy, with few details in tow. We always leave you to a test gallery, so that you can evaluate the quality of the camera of this terminal.
Conclusions
For just over 100 euros Elephone A4 Pro allows you to have a terminal with a minimal and modern look in your hands. The Orchidea coloring is a real added value, which serves to detach it from almost all the terminals currently available on the market. The performance is in the average of Chinese phones in this price range, while the camera department will allow you some sufficient shots in perfect lighting conditions.
It costs just 124 euros; the advice is to buy it in the orchid color , very special and original.
