Our test of the Eufy automatic vacuum cleaners began exactly in February two years ago with RoboVac 11 (199.99 euros), a model that had literally amazed us mainly for the suction power and cleaning precision in relation to the selling price. especially if you compare it with the giants of the sector.
Just last September, the company reworked its jewel by launching RoboVac 11S (219.99 euros), a version that in just 20 euros of difference brings numerous and important improvements, starting from the greater power of the vacuum cleaner up to adjustments of small details that perfect an already excellent product.
A few months after the release of this model, however, RoboVac 12 arrived, (249.99 euros), an update that we have not tried because, compared to the predecessor, it offered only a slight upgrade to the intake system (at a cost increased by 30 EUR). Instead, we asked the manufacturer to try RoboVac 30C (299.99 euros), the top of the range of the series. It arrived on the market a few days ago and offers all the improvements of the 12 model with the addition of two goodies for those who love home automation: WiFi for control via app from smartphones and tablets and support for Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.

Eufy RoboVac 30C maintains the style and design of its brothers and is practically identical to the previous model except for the design printed on the front surface, practically a series of curved lines that in a certain sense recall the presence of wireless connectivity.
In this regard, an LED indicator marked with the WiFi symbol has been added thanks to which it will be possible to know at a glance the connection status of the vacuum cleaner with the home router.
For the rest, the materials are the same (glass plate covering the upper surface, high quality polycarbonate for the rest of the external structure) of the previous models. The brushes are enhanced by some mini-bristles that keep stubborn dirt away from the roller for rotation and the On / Off switch is now protected by a transparent silicone cap that completely protects the button from any ingress of dirt and dust .
If you want to deepen the aesthetic analysis, we refer you to the review of the previous model (Chapter 2: How it is made), identical to the new one except for the few clarifications mentioned above. Here you will also find a detailed description of the various cleaning modes in Chapter 3: How it works as they are the same, both by type and by operating mode. In addition we find only one mode, called Quick, which activates cleaning for only 30 minutes after which the vacuum cleaner will turn off to save battery. It is an excellent solution to completely clean a single room (taking care to close the doors to prevent it from moving elsewhere).

Remote control operation
If you are not interested in Smart functions, then Eufy RoboVac 30C will be no different from the previous ones. In fact, in the package there is a remote control to control it even without a smartphone. Just insert the batteries, turn on the vacuum cleaner using the switch on the bottom and press button A (Automatic). The vacuum cleaner will receive the command and start cleaning the floor, self-adjusting the suction power according to the amount of dirt that is detected by the sensors.
We would like to point out the presence of a sort of legend on the back of the remote control, which describes the meaning of the various symbols printed on the buttons and will certainly help those who buy a device of this type for the first time.
There's just one big difference from previous models: the remote doesn't feature a screen, and there's no way to schedule daily cleaning without going through WiFi. But this is good and we will tell you about it in a very short time.

Smart operation
We finally come to the news of this vacuum cleaner. There is WiFi, which means that you can also control it with your smartphone directly from the EufyHome app available for free on the App Store for iPhone and iPad and Play Store for Android smartphones and tablets. So if you are on the sofa and you are answering an email, you will not have to get up and look for the remote control because the robot will respond to your actions typed directly from the app via wireless and therefore there will not even be the infrared limit: it can practically be controlled freely too. if you are downstairs and in any case out of sight (as long as it is reached by the router's WiFi signal).
Manual control with the EufyHome app The application replicates all the functions present on the remote control. The user interface is clean and minimal and presents the joystick accompanied by the play / pause button in the center of the screen, while on the lower bar there are 4 sections:
As we said, the biggest advantage of the app compared to the remote control is given by the WiFi operation, which does not require you to point the phone in the direction of the vacuum cleaner as they communicate through the wireless network. It can also be controlled at great distances and, for those who never give up the smartphone, you will have control of the device at any time. The only precaution: the phone must be connected to the same WiFi network to which the vacuum cleaner is connected.
First configuration Configuring Eufy RoboVac 30C over WiFi is very simple as the various steps are explained in detail within the app. In short, it is necessary to enter the WiFi password in the app when requested, then temporarily connect to the vacuum cleaner WiFi by selecting the Eufy item (followed by the unique number of the device) in the list of available WiFi networks, then wait for the connection between the vacuum cleaner and the router (typically less than 1 minute).
If you encounter problems during the first configuration (you realize it because the WiFi symbol flashes quickly without being able to connect to the router) you can reset the vacuum cleaner and start over. In the manual it is not explained how to do it but we will tell you: turn on the vacuum cleaner from the lower switch, then hold down the On / Off button on the upper edge for more than 10 seconds, until it emits an acoustic signal and the WiFi symbol will not flash slowly again.
Voice commands with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant Eufy RoboVac 30C can also be controlled via voice commands. It is compatible with both Amazon's Alexa and Google's Assistant, however at the time of writing this option is active only in English. For the record we still tried this function and we can say that it works really well.
In the case of the Google Assistant, before starting to send commands it is necessary to make the system “talk” with the vacuum cleaner (the command is: Ok Google, talk to RoboVac). The first time you will be asked to be able to connect to the Eufy account, while later it will be immediately possible to control the vacuum cleaner with only voice commands – for example “Ok Google, ask RoboVac to start cleaning” to start automatic cleaning (replace “start” with “stop” to stop it), “Ok Google, ask RoboVac to go home” to send the vacuum cleaner to the charging base and “Ok Google, ask RoboVac to find my robot” to make it ring if you lose sight of it.
With Amazon Alexa, on the other hand, simply search for the “EufyHome – RoboVac” skill in the store, then tap the “Enable” button to activate it. After logging into your account it will be possible to use devices compatible with Amazon's voice assistant to control the vacuum cleaner with commands similar to the previous ones (just replace “Ok Google, talk to RoboVac” with “Alexa, ask RoboVac” For example, to start cleaning it will be necessary to use the command “Alexa, ask RoboVac to start cleaning”).
At the moment, as we said, this convenient function is only available in English. We asked the company if and when the Italian language will also be available: we will not fail to update you as soon as we receive an answer on the matter.
Boundary strips
Those unfamiliar with the system are invited to read Chapter 4: Impressions of use of the previous model as the cleaning quality is practically the same. The suction is excellent and, although it has been enhanced, in reality we have not encountered major differences compared to the previous model which, on paper, is less performing. The device cleans very well and does not leave even a speck of dust behind.
A significant improvement over previous models is offered by the delimitation strips included in the package. They are basically heavy magnetic strips that can be fixed in the points or in the vicinity of the areas from which the vacuum cleaner will have to keep away.
It is a good thing, for example, to fix them under the carpets with tassels to avoid that, in our absence, the vacuum cleaner can get close, try to climb it and get stuck with the filaments. In fact, these robots are able to overcome light steps and clean carpets no thicker than about 1 centimeter.
Another idea is to place the strips at the entrances of the areas from which you must keep away, such as a closet where various objects are piled or, in case it is used in public places, away from the entrance area to avoid be able to leave the shop. It can be a good idea especially in case of rain, as it will prevent it from ending up on residues of water left by dripping coats and umbrellas.

Conclusions
Anyone who has purchased one of the previous models will find, in Eufy RoboVac 30C, the same attention to detail, the same quality of materials and identical cleaning performance. It is a product that over the years we have been able to appreciate day after day and that we believe is among the best in the sector, especially in relation to the price for which it is offered.
In the case of Eufy RoboVac 30C the situation becomes a little different because the price is starting to be significant: 299.99 euros are close to the current 329.90 euros of the Roomba 671 by iRobot, a company that is considered among the best manufacturers vacuum cleaner.
Both models share most of the functions – voice control and via app – and guarantee a complete cleaning of the floor, however the Eufy vacuum cleaner offers the very comfortable boundary strips that other competitors do not have (for the Roomba there is the Virtual Wall , but it is only available on higher-end models).
A praise therefore to Eufy that with RoboVac 30C has managed to guarantee the same quality at a slightly lower price than its most direct competitor. The next step we expect to see is the Roomba 960 competitor, capable of mapping the house and offering even more precise cleaning.
