Home Reviews ,,,,, When you come home in the evening, it takes very little to get some extra comfort. A light that turns on automatically the moment you approach the entrance, for example, can help in the search for keys, but also in front of the garage before going out with the car.
In these cases, an outdoor LED lamp such as Eufy Solarlux 440 can be useful, similar to other solutions we have tried in the past in terms of use and type, but smaller in size, despite offering strong lighting.
What's in the box
In addition to the lamp, in the package we find two nylon plugs with screw (cross) attached for wall mounting, as well as a short manual, in English, which describes the simple operation of the lamp together with some advice for use.
How it is made
The surface of the lamp in contact with the wall measures 12 x 12 centimeters, while due to its pyramid-like shape it protrudes by about 8 centimeters.
On the upper side we find the solar panel that guarantees the recharging of the internal battery, while on the lower facade there are 22 LEDs, in addition to the sensor for the recognition of movements and the ON / OFF switch.
On the back there is a lid closed with five small screws, which we unscrewed for the record, going to look inside. Having already had a modicum of experience with products of this type, we did not like to find the battery closed inside a second lid, which is not easily accessible by removing the two additional screws visible in the photo, but by disassembling the whole structure, which requires some practice on the part of the user.
In fact, it will not be so easy and immediate to replace the battery which, in the long run, could lose its efficiency. On the other hand, the IP65 waterproofing declared by the manufacturer has been confirmed by the presence of a gasket that covers the entire perimeter of the lid, thus retaining any rain drops during a storm.
How is it going
The house where we currently live is not the most practical for a thorough test of this product, which should be placed outside balconies or private doors and garages. However, to evaluate its capabilities, we locked the lamp inside a built-in closet near the entrance to test the motion sensor and lighting power.
Once the switch is on, there's not much else to do. At the slightest movement the lamp turns on, even if the subject is about 5 meters away from the side or a little more in case of frontal movement.
Performance
When it loads (and in case of purchase we recommend exposing it to the sun for at least three days before turning it on) the light is very strong, capable of illuminating an area of about 2 square meters below the lamp and, sufficiently but with less intensity, an area about twice as much.
The solar panel is not only used to recharge the internal battery. It is in fact thanks to it that the system monitors the phases of the day and keeps the motion sensor deactivated during the hours of light, thus saving precious energy.
Furthermore, the lamp switches off 15 seconds after switching on, if it has not detected any movement in this period of time.
Conclusions
Eufy Solarlux 440, as anticipated, can be convenient at the entrance of the house, near the garage or on the balcony. It can also work in combination with a security camera, especially if the old type and therefore without infrared sensors for night shooting.
It is certainly a valid solution, especially in relation to its small size. The front button is also convenient, which allows you to turn it off easily if you leave the house for several days, thus preventing it from turning on when wild animals pass.
However, we cannot deny that on the market it is currently possible to come across equally functional products, with an easier battery to replace, at a lower price. However, it must be taken into consideration for positioning in confined spaces.
