Our homes are becoming smarter and more connected, including when it comes to security. Indoor surveillance cameras have evolved to the point of becoming almost indispensable. We tried the EZVIZ CP1, an excellent indoor security smart cam, let's see how it behaves in our review!
EZVIZ CP1 As usual, we start from the package: EZVIZ CP1 comes in a compact box, which contains all the information and features related to the security cam.
Inside, in addition of course to the cam, we find everything you need to install the CP1, including a 3m long microUSB cable, a power supply and everything you need to install the security cam on the wall.
EZVIZ CP1: TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS Dimensions: 88mm x 119mm Sensor: F2.0@1/2.7 ″ Progressive Scan CMOS Lens: 4mm, angle of view: 104 ° (Diagonal), 85 ° (Horizontal ), 55 ° (Vertical) Infrared night vision Compression: H.265 / H.264
DESIGN With its dimensions of 88mm x 119mm and a weight of about 218g, the EZVIZ CP1 appears to be compact, but certainly does not go unnoticed. It is in fact a product explicitly designed for domestic use, where the constant presence of a security cam does not bother.
Personally I have installed it on a high shelf, but thanks to the support base and fischer included it is possible to install it on any type of wall. The adhesive with the guides for the holes also comes to the aid of those who cannot do it yourself, such as myself.
On the front of the CP1 we find the lens with fullHD sensor, with microphone, status LED and infrared. Raising the lens to the maximum we find the slot for the microSD and the reset button.
The head of EZVIZ CP1 is able to rotate 360 °, and thanks to the very wide viewing angle it will satisfactorily cover any type of environment.
On the back we find the microUSB port, the housing for the Ethernet cable, to connect the EZVIZ CP1 via cable and the speaker. Thanks to the two-way audio, it is possible to communicate in real time with those inside the room via the app.
Functionality EZVIZ CP1 works in conjunction with the EZVIZ app. The initial configuration is almost instantaneous, thanks to the QR code positioned under the cam: in a few moments we will have access to all the features of the security cam, with a clean interface entirely translated into Italian.
Once the security cam is connected to the internet, we are immediately ready to record. The cam offers 2 recording modes: locally, via a microSD, and in the cloud, thanks to the dedicated service, which includes a 7-day free trial. Personally I have chosen to use one of the many microSDs that I have scattered around the house, but the cloud is undoubtedly the most practical solution.
Through the app we can access the security cam at any time, manually move the lens, interact with people in the room via two-way audio and zoom in on the image.
The 3MP sensor on board the EZVIZ CP1 is able to record excellent 2K movies, with H265 compression, and does not lose quality even in total darkness, where night vision works very well, obviously in black and white.
One of the most useful functions is auto tracking: thanks to the rotating head, the CP1 will always accurately follow any movements, perhaps caused by your pet or an intruder. In the latter case, the immediate motion notification function is very useful, with recording: the cam will follow the intruder for as long as it is within reach of the target. I found this feature really useful for keeping track of my dog's movements when I'm away from home.
Notifications can be managed in a very precise way, and it is possible to define an action interval. The possibility of controlling the CP1 through voice assistants is also excellent.
CONCLUSIONS EZVIZ CP1 is a complete, intuitive and high quality product, which does its job really well and without too many frills. The price at which the cam is sold is undoubtedly more than competitive: for about € 54.99 on amazon.it you can take home a security smart cam with much higher characteristics than the price range in which it is placed.
