There is no doubt that on Facebook there are many fake news
and it can be objectively complicated to understand if the source of a certain news is reliable. The social network has often tried to fight this phenomenon and recently started testing a new function in this area.
As announced on Twitter by the same company, on Facebook “labels” will appear for the most famous pages that will indicate the type of account: there will be labels for the official pages , for fan page , for satirical pages or pages linked to official government bodies . Users can then click on these “descriptions” to get a more general picture of the type of content that could be published.
This is certainly a very useful feature: at a glance, users can easily guess if it is an official page , and therefore a reliable source. The test is currently extended to the United States only , but we are confident that this functionality will also be added in other countries
